Click the image above for more shots of the rumored Ferrari Dino in action.
About a month ago we brought you some spy shots of what is believed to be a Ferrari Dino mule circulating the Nurburgring. Now someone has caught the same car running around the track at what appears to be a fairly leisurely pace. At one point the car is passed by a Mercedes-Benz SL moving at a significantly faster rate.
The 599 GTB bodywork is clearly a couple of sizes too large for the chassis below. From the sound in the video, the car is clearly not propelled by a V-12, with reports indicating that the car is powered by either a V-6 or V-8.
Check out the video after the jump.

Dino with a V6? I doubt that highly

i just don't understand the point of this car. why is ferrari going downmarket? while lamborghini is making 1 million euro cars, ferrari is close to break the 100K threshhold...
Icon149 @ Sep 24th 2007 10:33AM
because the biggest car companies in the world were built on "down market" Remember Ferrari is owned by Fiat, and lamborghini is owned by VW, the peoples car...
the Dino will be such a huge success for Ferrari, and if it is done right it will not have a negative effect at all on the company. i think lambo's million euro car is just silly marketing with no real business model to support it.
testa di cazzo @ Sep 24th 2007 10:47AM
there isn't a business model to support it the Reventon? how bout selling 20 cars at more than 3 times the cost to make them? Lamborghini made at least a cool 10-15 million euros on those 20 cars, and for what? new design and a cool dash? it's brilliant.
going downmarket never works for ultra-exclusive brands. it might improve sales, but it hurts the value of the brand in the long run for the customers that matter - the truly wealthy who can afford cars like the Enzo and the Scaglietti, because those are the guys that keep buying ferraris over and over, and this is the kind of car that will stop and make them think twice about spending 5 times as much to get the same brand as someone buying hte Dino...

It's plain stupidity to keep calling a small mid-front longitudinal V8 engine 2+2 Grand Tourer Ferrari the "New Dino".
The Dino was a small radical strictly 2 seater sports car, with a mid-rear tranversal V6 (later V8). And never was such thing as a "Ferrari Dino", so there will not be one again.
It's wheelbase seems to be quite close to the 8C's (if we check the 599 bodyshell is reduced by about 30 cm before the front fender... but this mule doesn't have necessarily a Ferrari underneath it, for sure.

Love the sound, whatever it has under the hood.
naggs @ Sep 24th 2007 11:57AM
it will be a v8, no doubt about that
and its not a dino
Golferal @ Sep 24th 2007 12:59PM
Doh! I coulda had a V8!
Bart @ Sep 24th 2007 1:28PM
Mark my words, and I'll expect a quote when it's finally revealed.
Maserati Ghibli.
Ferrari's not going downmarket.

That is most definitely a v8, and not the normal Ferrari flat-plane crank v8 either.
