Frankfurt 2007: Yes, it's even uglier in person - Startech Starster

Click the image above for more high-res pics (if you dare).
Just to see this thing in person is enough to cause a simultaneous spit-take and bowel evacuation – it's just that horrendous. The T2 headlamps, cross-hair grille and flat-panel rear end are all novel approaches to questions we'd never have asked, but we will say that the execution is typical of the Germanic fare we've seen in the past. We'd rehash all the details, but Alex did an exemplary job of summing it up in his initial post, and if we're forced to dwell on this anymore, it's likely we'll lose both our breakfast and last night's midnight snack.

Having to chose between this and a stock Avenger/Sebring is like choosing between two circles of hell. Would you care for "total hell" or "hell lite"?

I would chose the stock Sebring over this! This is uglier than some of the ricers that plague Tampa.

Just one more...I can't help but feel like this thing is supposed to plug into a Nintendo Wii in someway

i think their lead "designer" was a 10 year old boy that liked Legos. "oooo, more crosshairs, can the headlights shoot lasers? those tailights should be rockets....oh, oooo i want orange! yeah, what's that called, floor-resent? yeah, that."

>>> The overall philosophy behind concept cars is to explore new design and engineering ideas and to utimately showcase such ideas to gauge public reaction.
Sometimes the builders will produce a car that becomes the talk of the town. Other times all you want to do is just turn off the lights, lock the door and hang a "Do Not Enter" sign on it.
I'm not quite sure what Startech was going after with the Starster's design theme. It all looks very convoluted to me. It's almost as if they started going in one direction, and in mid-stream decided to pursue another.
The Starster's one redeeming quality is that did give it a powerplant that would help any would-be driver get from point-A to point-B in a hurry.
Turn out the lights, Gracie.

>>> Oops! The fourth paragraph should have read "The Starster's one redeeming quality is that THEY did give it a powerplant that would help any would-be driver get from point-A to point-B in a hurry."

As an example, Cerberus should fire whichever high-level exec gave the nod for this hideous thing.
No golden parachute - just kick his butt out the door.

I don't know, I somewhat disagree with you guys. It may not be pretty, but it is not necessarily ugly. Like most people, most cars are just mediocre, and very few are either beautiful or ugly.

I was too stunned to comment on this earlier.
Rockstar Games should put this into Grand Theft Auto 4. so we can blow it up. Repeatedly. In fact, have a separate statistic on the number of times you've blown this up, and when you blow up so many, have a car appear at your hideout (not this car. A Stallion or something). You can make it a mini game.

Yes, it's ugly... but it's still prettier than an Aztek.
Although, by the same token, I am better looking than Steve Buscemi.
Neither of those is really saying much, and when that is the specimen that you are using for a comparison, it's not exactly a compliment.
