BLS stands for bastardized little Saab.

Don't get me wrong, I love Cadillacs nearly as much as I love Saabs, but the EuroCaddy makes no sense whatsoever and should not exist. These cars that we imported in the 1980s and 1990s were expensive, expensive to fix, and generally unreliable. To say that a Cadillac BLS, based on Saab (and Opel) technology, does not stack up quality-wise with Skoda, Fiat, etc., is laughable.

the marais

Comments on

Cortez: That's just prejudice talking. American cars have made huge leaps in the last decade, and if you refuse to acknowledge that, you're pretty narrow minded.

marais: First of all, where are these expensive Volkswagens you're talking about? Second of all, I live in the US, and I'm quite familiar how annoyingly expensive some imports can be. I drive a Saab, for chrissakes. Third, I'm sure that the BLS is a nice car...it's just that it's really a Saab with all of the character stripped from the body panels. The few Europeans who want Cadillacs don't want a Saab that looks like a Cadillac, they want, say, a CTS/V or STS or whatever. This is why GM needs to stop wasting money with the BLS. This money could go towards pushing real Cadillacs on Europe, or it could go towards pushing Saab. God knows they need all the help they can get.

Jeff

Comments on

"Here in the U.S. the following marks have not been associated with quality: Alfa Romeo, Renault, Citroen, Peugeot, and VW."

Neither in Europe, but Mercedes, BMW and Audi are selling very well worldwide.
