The current Turbos are quicker than anything in the F430/Gallardo/Viper/Z06-level group, by a few tenths. The GT3 sheds some weight and offers a more focused track-like demeanor, sans turbo. This beast gives you the best of both worlds. Turbo power, less weight, more intense all around. While it might lack a bit of the visual impact of the Italians and Americans, Porsche will have no trouble moving every one they can produce. Porsche buyers understand.

Frank Filipponio

Comments on Frankfurt 2007: 2008 Porsche GT2 caught behind closed doors

What happens if the viper beats it around the ring?

Rob Poitras

Comments on Frankfurt 2007: 2008 Porsche GT2 caught behind closed doors

Trust me, no viper will beat this around the ring. I realize that it's a fantastic car, but it is waaaaaay overpriced. True Porschephiles will never admit that the Corvette can be compared to a 911, but those people are truly just in denial. It's not about speed or numbers with a Porsche buyers. It's about build quality and exclusivity. I see a Corvette every day I drive. I see 911's maybe once a week.

P.S. I also find it funny that Chevy is able to garner almost identical specs to the 911 at roughly HALF the price.
