Our friend Jason tipped us off to several photos at M3post.com, purportedly showing a prototype of the E92 M3 CSL making the rounds at the 'Ring. While we're not entirely convinced that this particular mule is the CSL, some cues, like the ducktail spoiler and what appears to be a wider track, make us think thrice.

If it is the M3 CSL, which BMW has practically admitted is coming, expect it to drop a few pounds and come equipped with more track-friendly accoutrements. Realtor's wives need not apply.

not realy a surprise... the new e92 recived heavy critic from important eropen sport car magazines like sportauto (normaly they prais BMW into heaven) for the extrem high weight... empty weight of 1655kg that is 5kg more heavy as the empty weight of Audi B7 RS4 with 1650kg...and they blamed the RS4 to be overweight.. after a first short preview testdrive they plaesed BMW to bring a hardcore M3 CSL as fast as possible..

I think he means that the standard M3 has been demoted to a kind of poseur car and that the true enthusiasts model is not the Me, but the M3 CSL.

That is true automotive porn...the CSL is such a pinup.

I hope they make the exhaust sound just as incredible as the E46 CSL. It'll be interesting to hear the difference between the hard banging I-6 and the new V-8 with similarly aggressive pipes.
