Hear what Ferrari's "Dino" mule sounds like
We're no closer to figuring out what this car will actually be, but thanks to some cameramen lurking in bushes, we know more about how it sounds. The Ferrari "Dino"/possible Maserati Ghibli has been caught on tape during what appears to be a field trip from the Alfa Romeo factory to the 'Ring and back again. The video speaks for itself, and from the way the car does its work, we think it will, too. And no matter what it's called, Dino, Ghibli, or anything else, it certainly sounds vicious. Sounds like an 8 cylinder...i guess it's the dino, which might have a maserati brother under the new granturismo.

If I can recall correctly, at the last press conference Ferrari mentioned a new GT model that would be offered as hardtop convertible and would have the option of being a 2 seater or a 2+2; power would come from a V8 (possibly even twin turbo; the Enzo's replacement will make use of a TT V8). Perhaps this is that car in 599 skin?
Pretty sure its not the "Dino", as Ferrari have made it very clear that the F430 will not be getting a little sister. Could be a Maserati in Ferrari skin...but then the 599 chassis might be a bit too big for a car that is to be positioned under the Granturismo...time will tell..

New renderings over @ worldcarfans, looking very much like a mini-599! Claiming 400 h.p. entry level Ferrari to be built at the Maserati plant,with 4000 made per year doubling current production.

I think I know what this is... I remember a a couple of months ago finding some pics of a possible Ferrari GTO. This could just be it.

I've listened it over a few times, and I am pretty convinced this will NOT be a ferrari engine. it's too low-revving, too low-pitched. If ferraris sound like tigers, this sounds like a lion.
My guess? It's the Alfa Romeo 169, probably high-end specs.

I totally agree with the tiger/lion comment.
Someone else mentioned it sounding like a GM LS motor. That's exactly what came to my mind too.
Ignoring the body/shell, what else would have a RWD front engine big displacement V8? Could something else under the FIAT umbrella be testing a sports car under the Ferrari guise?

I'm with Jules... unless the car has a "camo" exhaust system too, there is no way that is a ferrari engine. None of Ferrari's small displacement V8's have ever sounded even remotely similar to that car. I personally can't see Ferrari making a small Dino with a large displacement engine... I'm betting Maserati

I agree completely. This sounds more like a lower revving GM LSx engine than any European v8 I've ever heard. Either way it sounds like a monster and I like the idea of Ferrari fooling with large displacement v8's.

Hopefully its the hardcore version of the Granturismo in ferrari guise. It makes sense.
