Fans of Yamaha SHOs just might get what floats their boats when the company releases its supercharged 2008 SHO. While horsepower is not as high as the 1999 V8 SHO, power-to-weight is greatly increased thanks to (much) smaller packaging and the use of lightweight materials.
Details are rather fluid at this point, but we know the new DOHC SHO will run on regular fuel, be significantly lighter and should retail for less than Ford's last SHO.

An Fusion SVT/SHO would be a really nice touch. Even something subtle, like the 3.5 and a manual, perhaps with more aggressive suspension tuning, would be appreciated.
The MSP Protege and Focus SVT proved that a brilliant chassis and a decent engine wins over poor chassis tuning and a monster engine (MkIV GTI, SpecV) any day of the week.
that was horrible...i've owned 2 taurus's...s..(taurii?) and, even though it would've been fwd, i welcome the opportunity to bring back part of what made the taurus so sweet. and what makes that page suck is the lack of HP info...c'mon, i wanna see how much power a 1.8l supercharged motor can produce. and i would like to see the weight comparison to 2 of those 500cc rotaries that i would like to see used in an application like this :)
I'm still driving a 2000 contour SVT. No replacement in sight. *Sigh*
SVT Fusion or Taurus X please.
Have you seen the sport appearance package for the Fusion? Only 4 cylinder. Cheeze whiz seats. The designers are the wrong generation or they just don't get it.

Damn you, damn you all.
I was so hopeful there for a second.
Don @ Sep 5th 2007 3:15PM
You and me both.

Amen. What a bunch of teases...
MK @ Sep 6th 2007 2:45PM
it's Sept 6th... not April 1st :-(
Those 3.0/3.2L V6 and 3.4 V8's were the best! A current variant can still be found as Volvo's 4.4 V8.

Whew... i'm glad its not the "real" Taurus SHO. Ford should have kept the Taurus and its aka 500 on the chopping block.
Joe @ Sep 5th 2007 5:14PM
And you should have kept your reply to yourself.
I got all hopeful about this...too bad...
jjpg2000 @ Sep 5th 2007 2:51PM
That wasn't very nice.

Yes, a Fusion SVO/SVT, if you would. And I'll take mine with a yes-I-prefer-three-pedals-please manual transmission...
I'm still driving my (V6, but non-SVT) Contour - and am still pleased with its combination of all-around fun.

I wish it was a Taurus too, but damn that jet ski has to fly! It'll probably dislocate your wrists just trying to hold on!
