UPDATE: Turns out we were tipped on the MKS spy shots, as well. Thanks to Jarrett A. for sending in the pics!

A friend who's friends with our friends over at Jalopnik sent in spy shots of the new Lincoln MKS while it was on set apparently making a cameo appearance in the new Batman movie. These shots don't get any clearer, with the front fascia, back end and everything in between fully exposed for the gawking.
The front end is significantly toned-down from the concept version that made its debut earlier in the year, but it still holds onto many of the elements that made the MKR a success. Out back, it is a bit bland, but it's clean and elegant – exactly what we'd expect from Lincoln.
The MKS is set to be unveiled sometime next year, with sales likely to begin in the latter half of '08.

Nice. I also love how they transformed the IL plate design to say "Gotham"

grille is nasty

Agreed. Didn't Mitsubishi's last couple of years of poor sales prove that a weak nose on a car is a problem?
On the other hand, new product from Ford is a good thing. Too bad it's year away, for a lackluster design!

I think the poster has his alphabets confused He links to the MKR but posts about the MKS. here's the link he may have been thinking of http://www.autoblog.com/2006/01/09/lincoln-mks-specs-and-pics/

Thanks, it's been corrected.

Yet another example of how stupid Lincoln's new naming convention is; even those in the know can't keep the names straight.
Car looks nice though; not too exciting, but reasonably upscale.

Much better than I thought it might be. The nose is really great - better than the concept. A subtle elegance. I hope it doesn't weigh too much.

whats wrong with the grille ? Lets wait til we see it in person or have better pictures to make judgements, but right now it looks good.
ford_for_road @ Sep 4th 2007 6:23PM

It looks like a supersized Mondeo with a different grille.

The new Galant looks good! Looks like it has the Raliart package on it too!

Now I know what my Acura TL is being traded in for ....
Johnny082 @ Sep 4th 2007 6:44PM
Wow! I actually like it! From the spy pics it didn't seem so great kinda bloated and chunky but this is much better. I really like it.
John @ Sep 4th 2007 7:08PM
Wow, I might actually take this over the XF. I guess Ford isn't giving it the V8 so it doesn't compete with it.
Robert @ Sep 4th 2007 7:25PM
The 3.7DI should match the power the XF's V8 even if it is a V6. I would almost claim that this engine is more sophisticated than the Jag's V8. The only thing it may lack is the full torque curve, but should still have 315-320hp.

I would of loved the awesome (to me) Lincoln LS to of lasted but this is going to help get me over that.
Very Infiniti M esque I find.
Jake @ Sep 4th 2007 7:48PM
This should been the new Town Car or Continental.
Daniel Cowan @ Sep 5th 2007 12:40PM
It was supposed to be, until they decided to extend the Towncar's stay until 2009. Don't get me wrong I like the Towncar, but Ford doesn't want to save it from life support. The MKS hopefully will look better and less chromified than the MKZ. Maybe Mulally will see what happened with the Five Hundred/ Taurus and revert back to the old names. But I won't complain. If luxury happens to be Lincoln's game, go for it.
