Michigan-based reader Alan Adilman spotted something on his daily drive this week that caught his eye, and he thoughtfully snapped the pic you see above and sent it our way. Alan was unsure of what the disguised prototype was, but we're able to clear that up. It's the 2009 Lincoln MKS, which, if we had to guess, will bow in January at the Detroit Auto Show. When Ford reveals the car, expect to see Lincoln's new winged grille up front, as well as a TwinForce V6 in the top-end model's engine bay. Both were previewed on the 2007 MKR concept. Until the big day, however, it will continue skulking about Michigan looking like a Taurus wearing a couple of really extreme bras.
You can check out the other spy pics we've picked up along the way, as well as shots of the original concept in the galleries below. Thanks for the new photo, Alan!

Lemme guess... a Ford 500 (aka "New Taurus") dressed in drag? Or yet another Fusion variant? Like all the other "Lincolns?
94 taurus owner @ Sep 2nd 2007 3:28AM
actually it is more like a lincoln S80 and the lincoln flex is more like a stretched XC90.All they need now is a mercury version of the taurusXand flex.
Mike Botros @ Sep 1st 2007 11:57AM
The MKS is based on the same platform as the taurus/sable or five hundred/montego... whatever... same platform... the volvo s80 platform...
only 2 lincolns share the same platform as the fusion/mazda 6...

Yet another BOLD MOVE from Dearborne.
Could this thing be any more anonymous?
So derivative. No one would ever guess that it is a Lincoln, which is maybe a good thing after all.
notnowjohn @ Sep 1st 2007 2:26PM
Gee, I hope it's anonynmous, after all, it is in camo.
Avinash machado @ Sep 1st 2007 11:53AM
Considering what GM has done with Cadillac, why doesn't Ford do something similiar for the Lincoln brand? It is sad that the once proud and graceful Lincoln has reached this stage. Time for Ford to revive this once great and legendary American brand and bring it back to its former glory.
That One Person @ Sep 1st 2007 1:49PM
Yeah, I agree. I am a Ford fan but it sickens me watching Caddy gain in popularity and having products under it's belt that actually make sense.
I am sure this will be a good car but it's no Caddy fighter. Maybe Acura. But that's it.
Why didn't Bill Ford take some initiative and restructure Lincoln into a real luxury company? Or at least set down the foundation for a restructuring? Other than raising reliability and coming out with a few good products, he didn't do anything GREAT for the company. GM came out of nowhere with new platforms, engines, designs and such. What did Ford come out with? The 3.5L V-6 and a modified Mazda platform. Wooooo!!!
Oh and SPG...there was an 06 LS V-8 at the local dealer with 9k miles. They wanted $22k for it :) I almost bought it...until I found out what the inusrance would be.

I, too, am ASTONISHED at what has happened to Ford, and what they have done to the Lincoln. Remember the 1961 Lincoln-Continental 4-door convertible? with vanishing soft top. Cadillac still had fins, but the 61 Lincoln had classic timeless design. I wish I still had mine, as well as my Mark IV. Now they use the MARK name on a FORD TRUCK IN HALLOWEEN DRAG! At this point my opinion of the "name" is such that, no matter if or when they become the brand they were, I would never consider owning another one.
Mike Botros @ Sep 1st 2007 12:03PM
I can't wait to see what it will look like when it's unmasked and the updated MKR based styling is revealed.
Please someone get a picture of a production version!
bmw122487 @ Sep 1st 2007 12:23PM
The whole car looks overweight to me, i looks almost whale like, they need to trim the lines and make it look more athletic and sleek.
Triton46 @ Sep 1st 2007 1:35PM
Agreed with the whale comment. Look at the side profile of the concept, could the front and rear wheels be any closer? They need to push the wheels out to the corners of the body, it looks overweight.
SPG @ Sep 1st 2007 12:48PM
So the LS which I loved was supposed to be a 5-Series fighter and Lincoln was trying to go a sports sedan route.
Now it's more of a Lexus fighting route?
I hope this car works out for Lincoln so they can salvage some of the respect their name once ment.
In the meantime we can all buy up used LS's for cheap!
Bigbuck16 @ Sep 1st 2007 2:08PM
Yall talkin about this car so damn bad already and you have'nt even seen the final product or specs.Just because its on the same platform as the Volvo s80 and Taurus does'nt mean it will look like a damn Taurus. Its coming out at the LA auto show by the way.
notnowjohn @ Sep 1st 2007 2:37PM
Sorry, anonymous, not anonynmous.
RicardoHead @ Sep 1st 2007 3:23PM
I really hope that camo is a fantastic disguise of something underlyingly beautiful because these pics look hideous. From the concept the grill looks great, but the rest is average, and since things typically get worse from concept to production I dont hold out a lot of hope for this vehicle.
jg3 @ Sep 1st 2007 4:20PM
FYI: That interior shot that's supposed to be the 2006 MKS concept is the production interior of the 2007 MKX crossover. (yet another reason the switch to MK? nomenclature was a poor move)
SilverAero @ Sep 1st 2007 6:21PM
That interior looks like a dummed down XF
James @ Sep 9th 2007 7:20PM
Not just the interior, the overall shape (especially the front and rear overhangs) reminds me of the XF.
Copabacana @ Sep 1st 2007 10:48PM
Like the new "shaguar", it looks a bit like a lexus.
You really don't want to copy Lexus.
Durask @ Sep 1st 2007 10:49PM
Interior would look good in a Chrysler 300, but not in a premium luxury sedan.
