Spy Shots: Subaru Impreza STI interior snapped
Via NASIOC, epicenter of all things Subaru, come some very interesting spy photos showing an apparent Impreza STI mule. Ignore the regular Impreza body and instead focus on the exterior tipoffs.The dual twin-tipped exhaust outlets and rolled fenders that accommodate a meatier wheel/tire package show that this is no garden-variety WRX. The most important photo in the set, however, is of the car's interior. There, the STI badging is plainly visible, along with unique steering wheel trim plus an SI-Drive selector just below the shifter. This at least reveals a good part of the STI equation. Now we just want to see how much more menacing the real bodywork's going to look. Thanks for the heads-up, Gabe!

should have slapped the designers silly before they got a chance to present this, but than whomever approved it should be straight up fired.

It's sure hard to "ignore" the new ugly styling. C&D gave the new WRX a scathing review. They are hoping the STI will save the car from its fast grandma direction.

While this may be true (and a good thing) I'd still rather have a slow but classy looking car. Like, an older BMW 3 series.

I just drove a '08 WRX on the invitation of the dealer that sold me my '06 and I hated it, the interior was a step backwards from my car and the handling reminded me of a Camry! I hope for Subaru's sake the STI is hardcore or it'll be a great day to be a Mitsubishi salesperson!

Hate the interior, and hate the overall look. Though I think my eyes are playing tricks on me but from that angle is almost looks....normal?

That interior looks a heck of a lot nicer than the interior shown for the Evo X a couple of days ago.
I'm still not even paying attention to the exterior- at this time it looks like a 5-door focus with RX-8 wheels. The thing this Sti needs more than anything is some flared fenders to give it some depth and meatier rolling stock.
And accordingly to public opinion- every new version of the Impreza has been uglier than its predecessor- but by the time it is with us for a couple fo years and the tuners perform their magic, it always seems to look badass. Heck, even by the end of the jet engine front with the S204 it looked badass.
I will say the clear taillights irk me though.

I think both the new STI and EVO are butt ugly. However, no ones buys a STI or a EVO because its pretty anyway. I didn't buy my STI because it was pretty.

And this is why I'll be looking for a low mileage 07 STi in a little more than a year once my Mazdaspeed Protege is paid off....

I think it looks good enough for a family car but I would never buy a performance station wagon-hatch-SUV ever.
That's what ruins the Mazda 3 MSpeed.
