Spy Shots: BMW 3-Series sedan facelift

E90Post has several spy shots up that show the facelifted 3-Series sedan due around a year from now as an '09 model. While the car is still wearing camo, some things immediately jump out, like the more rounded grilles and sportier-looking lower front fascia. If you click through to the thread, you'll see that the taillamps are partially covered as well, suggesting a reshaping of the parts that reside on the trunklid. Changes to the hood and front bumper are also in store, but they're sporting disguises that still mask their updated shapes. To summarize, it looks like a more athletic look for the 3-Series sedan is in the works, which isn't a bad thing at all. For several more shots showing additional angles of the car, head on over to E90Post by clicking the image above or the "Read" link below.
Thanks for the tip, Lars!

What's the round thing in the lower grille?

Good question. I have no clue, but it looks like a camera lens of sorts to me. Any ideas, Bimmer fans?

It's stupid active cruise sensor. You need it to use active cruise control. Talk about throwing away 2k.
All around the front looks a tad better but unless they put the car on Jenny Craig, it's still too big and too fat to be fun. I don't miss my 06 330i at all...the car was bland and a piggy.

Ahh. Thanks, Tick.

Uninspiring. Boring. Bland.
And I thought I saw a little Pontiac Grand Am as well, bison.

I hope they get rid of those red turn signals for the US market.

I hope they go even MORE athletic than these pics, I think the E46 is WAY more attractive and aggressive looking...the E90 was a step backward artistically...

and it seems the design cues are returning to the E46, also.

BMW needs to wake up, trash their current designs and start fresh with old inspiration. Even my dad, who has bought only BMWs for the past 15 years, is considering buying an Audi or a Japanese car.

Looks like SUV front bumpers. Bad.

I was hoping they would install the headlights from the E92 as they did with the M3 saloon

The last 3 series sedan never really got me.
However I love this generation. The styling makes up (in my opinion) for the blandness of the last 3.
