Project Gotham Racing 4 officially arrives Oct. 2 in US

Though originally slated for a September 2007 debut, Project Gotham Racing 4 for the XBox 360 is now officially set to be released on October 2nd in the U.S. and October 12th in Europe. Bizarre Creations, the gaming house behind the PGR series, acknowledges it'll be two days late with the product, but according to Joystiq, they want to put "the finishing on the game to ensure it crosses the finish line at retail as the best titel yet in the 'PGR' racing franchise." Considering that PGR 4 is packed with a long list of cars and motorcycles, as well as featuring more weather scenarios than the Gulf of Mexico this time of year, we believe it will be the best of the series. Whether it's better than Forza Motorsport 2 or the also upcoming Gran Turismo 5 will have to wait until someone performs a proper smackdown comparison of the three.

As awesome as this game probably is I think that GTA ruined me. If you can't get outta the car, steal another one, take crazy adventures, and then fly a helicopter a game is just not interesting to me.

SPG, I understand and I offer my sympathy. Too bad my San Andreas kept freezing on PS2 so I just dropped playing games on consoles at all. Any word of new PC releases though? Maybe PG4? I know there is Test Drive Unlimited that seemed pretty nice for PC.

Meh, be better than Forza? I hated Forza. I got a car I really liked, upgraded it, only to find out I can use it in like two races and have to buy other crappy cars just to compete in the rest of the game.
At least in PGR3 I was able to buy one car I really liked, become very good at driving it, and use it in whatever race I wanted.

Comparing PGR4 with Forza 2 and GT5? That's like the most unfair thing you can possibly think of. PGR4 is more arcade-oriented, while both Forza 2 and GT5 are intended to be way more realistic. Of those two, I prefer GT5 really, especially after playing it this week at the Leipzig Games Convention.
Though as a game itself, I prefer PGR4, simply because I do like arcade racing better than 'realistic' racers (they don't exist in my opinion).
