Motive mag enters net-only auto enthusiast market

Another new automotive magazine just launched. Joining the growing list of online-only publications, Motive promises to be everything to a select few. Rather than going after the wide consumer audience, it is focused on the enthusiast. Offering a unique blend of original material, newsfeed summaries, galleries, video, and a forum, Motive gives visitors the best of what the web format has to offer. Where Winding Road and Automotive Traveller have focused on mimicking the print magazine format to keep old-school readers sated, Motive seems to embrace the younger generation that doesn't seem to need the page turning (virtual or not). Fun and irreverent, they have some great photography and unique articles that make it worth a permanent bookmark.

I wondered why Fourtitude and VWVortex had totally dried up in the news department.

I like it...been checking it daily for the past 10 days or so. Its not as up-to-date with automotive news the way Autoblog is, but its got some great articles that are well-written (ie the article replicating Ferris Bueller's Day off in that Datsun-based Ferrari Daytona, and the more recent King-of-the-Hill ZR-1 vs. Z06).
The layout is great and visually pleasing, the photography (or P-shopping) is an orgasm for your eyes. (Nothing like the eye-sore Jalopnik provides!)
Most of all though, the articles are well-written - they're edgy but not over the top. Great alternative when navigating away from Autoblog (during those random 3 mins).
