SPY SHOTS: Jaguar XF in Colorado

An Autoblog reader who calls himself "ScubaSteve" was in Colorado yesterday when he saw a vehicle wrapped in the telltale black camouflage of an automaker test mule. To use his words, the car was "BOOKING up Loveland Pass." The car in question, as you can see in the pretty shot above, is the Jaguar XF, which was likely undergoing high-altitude testing. Loveland Pass has an elevation of 11,990 feet.
Many thanks to ScubaSteve for the photos, two more of which are in the attached gallery. Note the "GB" insignia drawn on the rear cladding by the cheeky engineers. Who needs oval country code stickers when a white grease pencil will do the job?

Why is Ford spending more money on R/D in Jaguar when they probably will be selling it off at a huge loss?

When Ford does sell Jag, it's doubtful that the new owners will buy 100% of the company. The most likely scenario is that Ford retains 20-30% of Jaguar. Given that, Ford wants Jag to start making money as soon as possible. Plus, whatever R&D goes in to this will benefit Lincoln's upcoming MKS program.
