Frankfurt Preview: Suzuki releases sketch of Kizashi concept

When we first posted on the Suzuki Kizashi concept set to make its debut next month in Frankfurt, we had no idea what the sedan would look like. Suzuki has now given us a hint in the form of an official sketch, and it's a doozy. The new image is exaggerated in the manner many sketches are, depicting a blazing red machine with a front end that resembles the Maybach Exelero in some respects and a chopped roof so low that it looks like it was made by a hot rodder with a cruel sense of humor. We're sure that in person, the proportions of the car will prove to be far more realistic. Kizashi literally means "prelude" according to Suzuki, a nod to this concept's role as a preview of a forthcoming production car.

First impression:
Oh my, am I actually starting to see some Suzuki design language? Some consistency from this sad little company? "Attachez vos tuques!" I think Suzuki will undergo a breakthrough in the next 10 years.
After some thought:
Maybe it's time for me to go to bed.

That sketch is ridiculous and nothing more than a worthless scribble that will never approximate any production vehicle.
Why do manufacturers release crap like this?

Concept vehicles are created to inspire production models, not become production models. Kinda like how the design of the Cadillac Sixteen has been used as an inspiration for all their cars. Concepts don't need to be daily drivers, exactly the opposite actually.

My first thought was, "and we still dont know what it will look like"

why do fashion designers design those crap outfits for the catwalks? i'm pretty sure these outfits won't be worn by anyone outside these fashion shows!

Very interesting. Finally a "suzuki-look" that people can remember and recognize. But where do you mount the front license plate in those parts of the world where it is required (particularly whlere it's rather wide)?

Stop Suzuki from bothering us with stupid cars.
They should rather try to build even one good car out of their product line-up.
Or better: go down!!! Devastate this company!

I assume you don't know that Suzuki is the #1 manufacturer in the most popular automotive segment in Japan (IIRC, Daihatsu is #2).
There's no way they're going down.

And to think that people thought the Edsel was odd looking.

I've seen that grill on other Suzuki concepts. It never makes it to production. Which is probably a good thing. We can't really say what the new concept will look like. I'm looking forward to what they have coming. If they can just ditch the GM crap it would be a great thing.

It blows my mind that Suzuki can make some of the best sportbikes in the world and none of it "trickles up" to their cars. Hopefully that will change with what we've seen in some of their concepts.

Why are so many car design illustrations so abstract to over emphasis some design direction.
I just bought a Redline magazine in Hong Kong today. I wish you could see the Volvo C90 photoshop on page 25 by Stephano Nunez. Maybe it's on the web ??
Now that is what design work should be. Realistic and close to being what could actually be put into production.

It'd be nice if Suzuki just sold thier own vehicles for a change instead of rebadged Korean junk. What they produce themselves is often of good quality.

Nice, a cartoon car with no front visibility.
