The Flexcar car sharing service is bringing 20 cars to Ohio State University this week to start service in Buckeye country. This new location marks, according to Flexcar, the "largest campus car-sharing program at the largest university in the country" and is Flexcar's thirteenth location nationwide ("the most of any car-sharing company").
OSU welcomes Flexcar as part of the university's "Scarlet, Gray & Green" campaign, which combines biofuels, reduced idling and vanpooling (and now car sharing via Flexcar) to meet "the University's present needs without compromising the needs of future Buckeyes." Flexcar's OSU rates are similar to other car sharing services: $35 annual fee (waived if OSU community members sign up before the end of October) and then $8 an hour or $55 a day to use a car. That charge includes gas, insurance, 150 free miles, maintenance, a reserved parking spot and 24-7 emergency service.
