Frankfurt Preview: Kia reveals rear shot of Pro-cee'd hatchback

Kia has revealed a second preview image of the car it's unveiling at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the Pro-cee'd three-door hatchback. The third model in Kia's cee'd lineup, the Pro-cee'd is by for the sportiest and looks it. The new rear shot reveals a sloping rear hatch and thick C-pillar that meet a near vertical rear end. It's very clean, tidy and all one color, which gives the ass end of the Pro-cee'd a very solid appearance.

Kia tells us that the Pro-cee'd shares only its hood and front quarter panels with the rest of the cee'd lineup, while every other surface is exclusive to this model and reinforces its performance pedigree. Set to go on sale in early 2008, the Pro-cee'd will likely feature 1.4L and 1.6L gas motors, as well as a 1.6L diesel. Hopefully Kia backs up the sporty pretense with a top-end engine that makes us regret even more not being able to purchase the cee'd and its many variants in the U.S.

PRESS RELEASE:

KIA PRO-CEE'D – MORE OF THE NEW THREE-DOOR REVEALED

Kia Motors Corporation has released the second preview image of its stylish new Pro-cee'd, the third model in the cee'd family of cars designed for Europe and made in Slovakia.

'We wanted to make Pro-cee'd as 'sporty' as cee'd could possibly be, while still remaining a member of our cee'd family,' explains Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer, Kia Motors Europe. 'We are proud that the appearance of the Pro-cee'd production car remains so close to the concept we showed at the Paris Motor Show in 2006.

'The three-door Kia Pro-cee'd is such a comprehensive re-working of the cee'd design theme that only the bonnet and the front wing panels are carried over from the five door model. All other exterior panels are new and exclusive to this car.'

The new Kia Pro-cee'd three-door hatchback model will make its World Premiere at this year's Frankfurt International Motor Show on 11 September and will go on sale across Europe in early 2008.
