Every so often, we come across something during our daily slog to and from work that merits a quick post, whether it be an aerodynamically-incorrect F-body, a not-available-in-North-America-but-here-anyway import, or something that's just plain cool. Today, it was the latter. Even when stuck in traffic like the rest of us, the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano looks like it's moving faster than everyone else. And it sounds just as good. Yep, the ride home this evening got a whole lot more tolerable when this bad boy appeared in front of us. You just don't see too many of 'em day-to-day, y'know?

Yesterday I saw a 575 and I just don't find the 599 nearly as appealing from a purely aesthetic point of view. Same with the 612 vs. the 456. I know the newer cars can drive circles around the older ones, but the styling has gone astray, IMHO.

The not-sold-here-but-here-anyways phenomenon happens in the DC area all the time. All the diplomats import their cars from their home countries, so every so often you'll see a Renault Espace, a Fiat Punto or something else, temptingly unavailable to the rest of us. As long as I don't see a Renault Megane (which I covet) on the road, I'll be fine, but span a cameraphone shot I shall...

I must say I love LA. It's an odd day if you don't see at least a few Ferraris and Lambos. Not to mention all the Phantoms and DB9s running around.

I remember seeing a yellow Lambo Galliardo parked at an open-air shopping mall in San Diego county where I was going to Panera for lunch. I had to stop and admire it for a minute or two, going in and out. It was parked all by itself. Wish I'd had my camera.

Did you get to see the part where it bursts into flames?

Alex, dude, how about throwing readers a bone and actually telling us where this was spotted! We don't know where "here" is, or where your "daily slog" occurs, or that relative position "in front of us". Is this Australia, Japan, UK, US, Europe??????
Alex Nunez @ Aug 6th 2007 11:06PM
RockStoneSteel,
The NY plates should give a hint as to the general area.
It's I-95 in CT.

I saw one of these bad boys rolling dn the street near where I live. Flow-of-traffic stuff bit it was a red beauty.
also at teh post office I viewed a Phantom RR just parked there minding its own business. A 30s something regular guy came out of the PO and hopped inside it.I said, Having fun with this gorgeous car? he said, Yeah!

I saw one here outside of chicago 2 weeks ago. It didnt even have any plates on it, they were driving down the block from the continental motorsports to the gas station. It was VERY nice, i got my friend to pull up next to it so i could snap a pic on my phone, but i only got the rear

Saw a Maserati Quattroporte on I-66 outside DC last week - I gave a thumbs up to the driver and he nodded at me. You knew it was something special, even if we were going 5 mph in rush hour traffic.
Saw a Maybach parked outside the Westin, too. I instantly knew what it was, but that car just screamed "stretch S-class" to me in regards to the shape and the styling.
Lotus Elises everywhere I turn here, I think the rental shop across the street has a couple...

nice, that's right in my neck of the woods. Greenwich has some AMAZING cars.
Alex Nunez @ Aug 7th 2007 1:14AM
Indeed, Jimmy. When you have dealers for Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Lotus, Porsche, and everything else all in one town, good things happen.
Adam @ Aug 7th 2007 1:58AM
Believe it or not today I saw an Enzo, a Ford GT, an Aston Vanquish S and a Ferrari 575 all on separate occasions on my drive. I was in sheer shock. Goddamn my lack of a camera!
ben.billson @ Aug 7th 2007 4:54AM
Probably the rarest thing I saw on the way into the office was a Ferrari 456 GT Estate. I thought it would look all ungainly and lumpen in the metal, but it looked really rather elegant.
There's a super/hypercar garage just up th road so you see all kinds of hot metal round there (Wandsworth, London) - Lambos, an Enzo, McMercs, old Fezzas.

Hey you know what? If you guys (AutoBlog) like stuff like this, I am gonna start keeping my digital camera in my car as I drive around town and posting it to my Flickr account.
I live in East Greenwich, Rhode Island (similar to the CT version in name and per capita income). Just this weekend I saw a Lamborghini Murcielago GTR, Maserati GranTourismo Sport, Ferrari F430, Aston Martin DB9 Volante, as well as the usual parade of top of the line MB's (CL, CLS, S55) and BMW's (M5, M6, Alpina B7). I'll see if I can get some "in the public" shots this weekend.
Jaymez @ Aug 7th 2007 8:55AM
Shit, when I was 17, I worked at a KMart. Near the end of my shift one night, I went outside for one last carriage gathering to find a McLaren F1 in the parking lot.

Reminds me of the time a few years ago when the Bentley GT had just been released...I was traveling home from a friends house after a night of partying and was hung over and looking for a pick-me-up so I pull into a Dunkin' Donuts (coffee shop) drive-through in a horrible part of the city and find my self in line behind a brand new black GT.
When I buy my supercar the first place I am going is a Denny's, just for the irony of it all....
