Clubman's U.S. debut moved to L.A. from Detroit

By now there's not much left to debut, but MotoringFile says the Mini Clubman will have its official U.S. coming out party at the Los Angeles International Auto Show, which begins November 14.
This breaks with our earlier reporting that said the Mini wagon would be shown first in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Which is another blow to the Detroit show.
As far as we know, the Clubman's first official debut is still penciled in for September at the Frankfurt Auto Show.

"...Which is another blow to the Detroit show"
Yeah right, that car not going to be there brings down attendance and it has nothing to do with Detroit being a dump.

Yeah, they need to move the damn show. I love going to it but I hate parking in downtown (it's not bad...it's the neighborhoods you have to watch out for).

Never looked at it quite that way, but you're right. Twisted.

I don't like the silver D-pillar & Bumper. Also I'm wary of the side mounted hinge, How difficult or expensive would it be to repair when it gets tail-gated? Also It's a little silly to sacrifice the view directly behind the driver for the sake of sentimentality.

It really is disgusting, especially those barn doors on the back with dual wipers- yuck!
They'd have been better off creating a mini-pickup using that wheelbase.

that is much more la than it is detroit - so it is a smart move.

The car is not debuting at LA. The North American debut is November 9th at the South Florida International Auto Show in Miami Beach. And useless fact: this year, the Miami auto show will likely surpass Detroit's show in attendance to become the 4th most visited auto show in North America.

As a bass player, I need to lug around speaker cabinets which limits what I can drive, currently a boring SUV. Lately I've been looking for something that is fun to drive, gets great gas mileage and has some character. So, you guys can rip on the Clubman and it's extended length all you want but for someone like me who needs a bit of utility in a smaller package it might be the perfect car (except for the split windows).

get any hatchback. Say, ford focus 3-door. When you fold the seats flat you can really do some hauling. No joking here.

I saw one yesterday in Cleveland Hts OH. Same dark blue color. Couldn't read the white graphics on the lower body, though. Too far away.

I figured the delay to detroit was to give time to get the diesel version ready. So it's either ready early, or scrapped.

I'm sorry, but what's the big deal about this thing? Why does it seem like Autoblog has an article on the mini clubman every single day.
I guess I'm one of those guys who "just doesn't get it" regarding the whole Mini craze.

The Grey painted areas can also be ordered in black!!
I see this taking over PT Cruiser and HHR sales...
However, what I am really waiting for is the true 4 door
AWD version of the Clubman which will be made in Graz Austria where the X3 are currently being made, until move to S. Carolina.
