VW greenlights Neeza for China

China Car Times doesn't have a lot of information, but says they have it on good authority that Volkswagen will begin producing the sleek Neeza concept early next year.
The Neeza wagon is not expected to be sold in the U.S. VW said at its concept debut that the car was designed in and for China.
When the Neeza goes on sale, Chinese buyers will probably have to do without those trick suicide doors, the fancy contrasting-colors interior and, unlike the concept, probably will have a radio installed instead of the "Magic Box."

PRESS RELEASE:
SHANGHAI VOLKSWAGEN PRESENTS NEEZA CONCEPT CAR
Shanghai Volkswagen has today revealed the Neeza concept car at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition.
The Neeza concept is a crossover between a sports coupé and an estate with an off-road appearance, and has been designed in China for China. The study combines Chinese and German design philosophies, signifying the future of new models from Shanghai Volkswagen. Produced with Chinese culture, tastes and requirements firmly in mind, it is a mix of traditional Chinese and modern European features.
The off-road look of the Neeza concept reflects the versatility of the model. The front of the concept features a grille and bumper design that is typically Volkswagen, yet traditional Chinese window engravings are incorporated into the grille design. The rear looks sporty, yet is also functional.
The Neeza concept offers a large, functional interior for both business and leisure purposes. The design is open with optimal comfort in mind, for example, the front seats swivel so passengers can face each other. Access to rear seating is simplified by rear doors which open towards the rear, while a large panoramic roof provides a bright interior.
The concept intentionally has neither a radio, navigation system nor other form of infotainment equipment. Instead a 'Magic Box' serves as an interface for radio and navigation systems, mobile phone, personal organiser and other devices.
The name Neeza originates from 'Ne-zha', the name of a famous and mystical figure from Chinese history who had magical weapons and fought evil spirits.

What up, my Neeza? Interesting interior - especially for a VW...

Darth Vader: "Apology accepted, Admiral Neeza."
"Knock knock."
"Who's there?"
"Neeza."
"Neeza who?'
"Neeza you to call a tow truck for my busted VW."

Good for China. Despite blatantly having the same profile as Audi's Q7 (but with a lower stance), I think this vehicle has much more personnality than the Passat wagon offered here. I guess this is the trend; North Americans like their big, bland cars.

... am i the only one that thinks this thing is ridiculous-looking? it looks like a cartoony version of a passat wagon with rims ripped off some happy meal toy. to be fair tho, it's not the worst automotive design to come out of china, and is a vast improvement on the VWs one normally finds in china.

Please keep it in China. And if these are the cars we should expect for
sale from Volkswagen of America in the US than Volkswagen really
doesn't understand the American market. VOA spent millions of dollars,
after being in the US for fifty years, to employ an outside source to
understand what the American customer expect from Volkswagen and I
hope that what they have learned will prevent them for making a
mistake like this. The american customer is more sofisticated and
would not buy this car. From the west coast to the east coast, what
the customer is looking for is to be able to purchase the same cars
available for sale in Europe and not cheep cars. The public knows that
the new Volkswagens are not cheep any more, what they don't
understand is why they can't lease these cars at competitive prices.
You can lease an Audi A4 quattro for $349 per month but you have to
pay more than $500 for a Passat 4motion. Now let's see to me the
message is: we can't give the Audis away because the public is still
not convinced the Audi product is as good as BMW or Mercedes. Do they
really think that leaving the US market Audi will be successful on its
own? Who in the right frame of mind would trust to buy an Audi than?
Is anybody at Volkswagen of America spending some time reading these
messages on Autoblog?

Once the cliche autoshow interior is replaced with a functional interior, this thing will look just like the Jetta Sportwagen. This makes one ask what the point of the Neeza is. I suppose it's just an other variant of the Rabbit/Jetta platform...we already have the GTI, Beetle, TT, R32, A3, and Tiguan. All of these cars cost more than the basic Rabbit and Jetta (more than twice that price in the case of a loaded TT). If people buy them, VW will sell them.

So the Neeza is made to measure for China. Then we can see its corresponding fittings will be fast-selling in China accompanied by the sale of this fund car.
