VIDEO: Toyota-powered Z chases F430

If the title of this story has thrown you off a little, here's the lowdown:
A couple of guys in a modified Datsun S30Z/240Z running a 7MGTE lifted out of a Toyota Supra come across a black Ferrari F430 and decide to give it chase while filming the whole thing on camera. It's hard to say if the driver in the Ferrari was really pushing it but it was amazing to see the old Datto keep up. This is also the part where we say that racing like this on public roads is inconceivably stupid.

I'm surprised this thing didn't have a V-TEC! F'ing ricers.
He's got some nice spellin', too.

Siddharth Raja is on the Toyota payroll! A stock Corvette can do the same without blowing $30K in aftermarket parts.

hey alexp wwII is over let the rice thing go. because its borderline racist. your an adult remember so lets act civil for a change.
by the way its an inline 6 if you listen a little closer. inline 4 are a little more chattery sounding.
to be even more accurate its a 7m-gte from a toyota supra thats boosted and mounted into a an early z car. which basically means it has good weight/performance ratio. and lets not act like Chevy and Ford owners haven't swap engines from one another because I'm at the drag strip all day long here in Md and i see especially during tech inspects!! Budds Creek for those who plan on visting .
The beauty of the whole thing is that it didnt cost him nowhere near 20 thousand to achieve that sort of performance. how much are you going to spend for a Corvette or a Ferrari to get any near this type of performance. 60-300k and you still might fall short.I see ferrari and lambo owners get their cheeks handed to them in a handbasket by mustangs so lets come off the high prancing horses and give the the owner credit.
Now if it was a Bugatti Veyron the supra powered Datsun Z killed now that's a story!!

the only thing rice about that car is that it is japanesse...
its friggin fast as all hell, an unknown amount of hp (400+ i would assume) in something that weighs something south of 2500 lbs with passengers. it is obviously the product of a lot of time, effort and knowledge. as opposed to say, a slammed civic hatch with 20 inch chrome wheels and scissor doors...
its fine to make fun of ricers with fart cans and wings on backwards who think that they can take camaros but this is a whole nother deal...

Rambo, the way you're going, everyone at Autoblog is on Toyota's payroll.
Get a life, loser.

Alex, you're a monkey.
stefan 6:16PM (8/03/2007)
@AlexP
A V-tec what are you talking about, why would you put a I4 in a 240Z. The only thing that belongs there is a I6, so pleas don't say stupid things.

... I don't think I even need to say anything.

Then don't.

"omg d00d a inline four"
AN inline, Honestly.

wow, you guys are idiots, the 240z is an iconic car, it's not rice. Just so you all know the 7MGTE is an inline-6 turbo, I know because I just ripped one out of my friend's supra project.
As a Nissan Guy I'd have rather seen a RB26DETT in there out of a Skyline, but I understand the 7MGTE financially.
Hondas have VTEC, not Nissan, so shut your mouth, you're just jealous that a nearly 40 year old car can beat your 5.0 mustang.
very impressive for the little 240z, pretty cool video

Who the hell cares even if some Toyota-powered Nissan Z beat or kept up with a F430?
Let's see:
An old Datsun Z with a Toyota engine swap versus a Ferarri F430.
And considering this is not a timed drag race or track race, there is no credibility to the video or claims made in the video whatsoever. For all we know, the person driving the F430 could have been a friend and purposely slowed down.

LOL @ stefan and nissanfreak87 flipping out!
AlexP was making fun of the ricers and what they said and the lame crap scolling across the screen, not mention they thought they hung with/beat an F430.... ricers = vtec 90% of the time.
I'm sure AlexP knew it did have some small displacement 4 in it.
Let me guess.. you 2 are past your 40s right? LMFAO... understand that? hahaha

I don't understand.
joe 7:07PM (8/03/2007)
jonathan, can't you see?
They are ricers. Because they are in a Japanese car, with a Japanese motor, street-racing a Ferrari, and made a video, AND edited it with scrolling text.
Obviously only ricers do those sorts of things. Oh yeah and they like V-Tech too.
Matt 9:04PM (8/03/2007)
I believe what makes them ricers, Joe, is the mentality that somehow having a several decade-old Nissan (which, by the way, my friend has an 89 240, oh god that thing is ghetto) with a motor nearly as old, and having the sheer GHETTO of the car cause it's light weight ("omg d00d let's leave the back seat in the garage!!11") and making it decently "fast" means they're somehow on the level of an F430.
Idiots.
Ricer idiots.
Fahaka 1:46PM (8/08/2007)
listen guys, I know this guy personally. Here is the low down on this car. It is a '71 240Z. It has been completely rebuilt from the ground up. The 7M-GTE in this car is entirely not stock. Aside from completely forged internal bits it has a rather large T4 60-1 "O" trim turbo with water methanol injection...so it makes about 450-500hp in a 2500lb car. The results speak for themselves, and no the Ferrari was wide open throttle and couldn't get away, in fact once the z got traction he kept reeling the F430 in...
You guys need to google the two "7MGTE 240Z" cars that are in Phoenix, because this one is the slower of the two...
You guys crack me up...video evidence of the kill and you still doubt...silly.

"He gave us a thumbs up!"
Hahahah that was great, nice video :)
