Spy Shots: 2008 Honda Accord interior
A keen Autoblog reader has spotted the 2008 Honda Accord in an empty parking lot in Columbus, Ohio, and was kind enough to send us the pic he snapped of the car's interior. As the new Accord's official debut looms closer, more and more undisguised cars have been turning up, but this is really the first time we've gotten a good look at the new car's interior. The model in this image was said to have been an EX four-cylinder and from what we can gather, the new Accord's interior isn't a marked leap over the model it replaces. The cabin features an identical curved edge running along the bottom of the dash, while the center console and layout of the air-conditioning ports are almost the same as the outgoing '07 model.
According to spy photographers who have seen the car, the 2008 model is slightly larger than the current car, so hopefully that translates into more room in the cabin, but we'll have to wait until its official reveal later this year to find out.
A big thank you to Nima for sending in the pic.
You can check out more spy shots of the new Accord here.

Why? You can make enough out...same typically astute Honda: everything's where it's supposed to be and nailed together extremely well.

OMG, what did they do to that steering wheel? It's hideous!

So the steering wheel matches perfectly with the rest of the car then lol
The whole package is hideous looking inside and out.
Good thing it's a Honda so it'll still outsell everything else on the road.

BMW 5 series anyone? They went korean on us, copycats! Nothing original with the latest Accord. Rather buy the real thing.

A 5 speed stick?
At least Nissan gives you a 6 speed stick, or 6:1 ratio spread CVT with the Inline4.

Um hey you retards, Honda already offers a 6 speed with the v6 and the CVT is just a sad excuse for not having a Hybrid vehicle on the market except for in California and in New York

Nissan is raising the bottom.
The I4 will (as shown in photo) have a 5 speed stick (unless it has a decoy shifter handle?)
Basically a cheap, high mileage commuter car, no fun there.

Looks like a truck dash and centerstack. Not liking it so far. Also, the e-brake looks so obtrusive. How hard is it to hide the thing a little further down like every other car manufacturer manages to do? Looks rediculous erupting out of the console. The idea is to hide the tools and mechanicals inside... not make them stand out!

On the off chance anyone from Honda reads this, I want to express my disappointment that Honda is again offering the non-standard stereo. I own an 04 Accord and would be tempted to trade in for the new model, but I just upgraded the standard stereo, which was an expensive pain and not something I want to go through again.
Otherwise, I'm sure the new model is fantastic in and out, as befittting a vehicle with an "H" in the front.

Oh the hypocrisy! A few weeks ago Autoblog posts a critical piece on the ever increasing growth of cars. Now I see this comment: "hopefully that translates into more room in the cabin..."
Nooo! There's a reason the Accord we get in America isn't sold overseas. There's a reason the American Accord has gone through about 5 revisions in 10 years, whereas the European Accord (US TSX) has remained as is.
The American Accord is too big to be the sporty car people want it to be! The Civic has been reborn, though.

the US Accord is indeed sold overseas, as the Honda Inspire.
I don't know what you're talking about with "5 revisions in 10 years" either, because the Accord is remodeled only once every 5 years. Current gen was introduced for 2003, previous gen was introduced for 1998.

Okay that was a bit of hyperbole, I'll admit it. But the Accord has had 3 notable appearance changes since 1996.5. And the 2008 model is a few months away.
The philosophy of the Accord, like the Camry and Altima (I'm not singling out just Honda here) is 'you can please all the people half the time.'
But any VW would do that and be fun to drive. It wouldn't be as reliable, though. You just can't win sometimes! BTW the Golf Mark IV lasted from 1997 to 2007.

Why do you hope for more cabin room? The last gen accord was already a land barge with a huge interior. Today's freaking CIVIC is bigger than the accords of a few generations ago. I think they should just rename the accord "FATASS AMERICAN RIDE" and rename the civic the 'Accord' and the fit the 'civic'. Problem solved, and it's easier to tell what is what.
