Hyundai UK's gussied-up Santa Fe Limited

In the wake of the rather appealing Tucson Xenith, Hyundai's UK division is bringing another special-edition SUV to market. This time, the Santa Fe gets the Limited treatment. All UK Santa Fe Limiteds get diesel power, which brings combined-cycle fuel economy of over 32 US mpg to the party. The other features that differentiate the limited from the regular Santa Fe are "Limited" badges (obviously), standard running boards, black wheel arch accents, tinted glass, a backup sensor, and a mesh grille that sets off the "Limited" look very nicely. It'll come in four colors, feature leather seats, an MP3 audio system and a few other standard features that cost extra on other Santa Fe models. Hey Hyundai, this isn't a bad-looking ride. Stick that grille and the other exterior enhancements on the US-market Limited already.

PRESS RELEASE:
HYUNDAI INTRODUCES SANTA FE LIMITED
The highly acclaimed Hyundai Santa Fe range is joined in the showroom this August by a limited edition model, Hyundai Santa Fe Limited, offering £900-£1,100 worth of additional equipment over the usual CDX model.
Diesel powered, the Hyundai Santa Fe Limited is available as either a 5 seater for £23,795 or a 7 seater for £24,895; automatic versions are priced at £25,195 and £26,295 respectively. Metallic and Mica paint are an additional £375.00.
This strictly limited edition model includes integrated running boards and wheel arch trims, privacy glass, reversing sensors, sports mesh grille, limited badges and a choice of four colours – Ebony Black, Sleek Silver, Gun Metal and Black Pearl. The highly visual special equipment package would usually cost consumers £1200 for the 5 seater and £900 for the 7 seater.
The Santa Fe range is still receiving plaudits from the media. In July Santa Fe CRTD CDX won a group test in Auto Express beating the newly introduced Chevrolet Captiva and the well established Honda CR-V. In addition What Car? placed the Santa Fe CRTD CDX ahead of the Chevrolet Captiva and Mitsubishi Outlander, praising its spacious cabin, practicality, refinement, comfort and warranty package.
Specification levels for the Hyundai Santa Fe Limited include high levels of safety equipment such as an Electronic Stability Program, ISOfix child seat fittings, side impact bars, traction control, active head restraints, multiple airbags and adjustable head restraints all round.
Inside the new highly specified Santa Fe Limited standard fittings include leather seats, seven speaker audio system with MP3 compatibility, air conditioning, electric driver's seat and much more.
Fuel consumption is 38.7 mpg on the Combined Cycle, delivering a potential range of over 600 miles.
The new Santa Fe Limited comes with the famous Hyundai warranty package that includes 5 year unlimited mileage warranty, 6 year anti-perforation warranty as well as 3 year Hyundai RAC assistance.

Am I the only one who thinks that wire mesh grills like the one pictured here look cheap and tacky?
It looks like Hyundai built it using chicken wire from a local hardware shop. Looking at it produces vivid mental images of the ten pounds of poorly spray painted wire mesh hanging from the aftermarket bumper of my neighbor's Honda Del Sol.

yea i'm with ya, love the SF and Hyundai, but the mesh is kind of odd
i'm starting to think all grills are looking cheap now.... like designers ran out of ideas.... its either that cheap looking black plastic grate, or cheesey lookng mesh. and all cars seem to use the same grade of cheesey, kia-lexus, same cheapo plastic grading grill with some chrome over/around it.

Way to take a perfectly good looking vehicle and muck it up. Can anyone from across the pond explain why Brits seem to like tacky special editions so much? Americans are bad, but you guys are worse. :-p

I think it's because many of the people who buy these cars have no taste. They don't know that enough is as good as a feast.
Nothing wrong with the cars necessarily. Huyundais, Kias et al are bought by two sorts of people; sensible mousish types who see a good car at a decent price with a good warranty, and the others...
These latter will be the ones who 'like a bargain', and may well be the same people who have concrete lions on their gateposts and immaculate gardens, with marigolds, and, at Christmas reindeer on the roof and lights all over the house. No taste, but sufficient quantities of hard cash to buy lots of meretricious junk. The richer ones will have BMWs and Mercedes sports cars, also Chrysler 300s and Lexus I think..
In summer they go around shirtless with their, usually large, stomachs hanging out, even in town and in supermarkets, and the women have tattoos. They holiday in Spain mostly, where they drink too much, go pink and vomit, but sometimes they go to Disneyland in Florida with their children - take a look if you're down there.
I fear this tells you as much about me as about 'them'.

Nice touches to an already gorgeous car. How come we don't get limited editions in the US?
