Typical of Ford to do too little and delay it as much as possible and then whine when their vehicles don't sell. How old is the present Range Rover? 7 years? And when is the replacement going to come? In 2011? As a third generation Ford owner across three continents, I am getting to the point where I could afford an expensive car, I need a four wheel drive because of my kind of work, and I would like the top model from the Land Rover stable. But, I don't want to end up buying something that is going to be obsolescent when I buy it and which is basically brilliant but which is in danger of being qualitatively surpassed by rival products from other manufacturers.
Sorry, Ford, none of your higher end products appeal to me today. And, considering your falling sales, there are others who are as loyal to your name as I am who seem to feel the same way. Best wishes and I hope you do well - if you do bring in more contemporary, relavant stuff, you will continue to have my business. And, I am certain, that of others like me.

The New Range Rover--the current generation--was released in the US in 2002 as a 2003 MY vehicle.
LR has kept this vehicle very competitive. I had a 2003 and it was the best vehicle I have ever owned. Period.
I also like the new Mercedes GL. It has similar content, but is not quite as luxurious and doesn't have 1/10 the cache of the Range Rover. Still the GL has terrific power and I love the 3rd row seats.
I would get the GL full loaded and you'd probably be very happy, especially with the new GL550 coming out this fall.
