Well, the good life is about to get better for five people scattered around the globe. We refer to the customers who will be taking delivery of the first five Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupes, which rolled out of Goodwood this week. Each of the initial five cars shown above is fitted with the optional brushed steel bonnet trim and teak decking, making an already impressive car even more opulent. Meticulously hand-built, boasting a powerful 12-cylinder, mildly softer lines than the Phantom saloon, and rearward-swinging doors, the Drophead Coupe might well be the ultimate arrival vehicle -- big, bold and laden with panache. One thing's all but certain: when owners pull up to the valet in their new open-topped Rollers, chances are they'll be left right in front. This isn't one you hide in the back lot with the Toyotas, you see.

Envy is a stinky cologne, gentlemen. I think it's a fabulous car.

I know this is a nasty remark and there are too many of those from lonely teenage boys in need of a woman--I can't be the only one who is turned off by this car. It makes a '70s Eldorado look like a Bug.

I am happy to see suicide doors making a comeback. I would be even happier if other manufactuers were to follow suit, say combining rear suicide doors with a convertible top a la the 60's Lincoln Continental. Consumers want bold.

That front-end lighting is the most lame design I've ever seen. Even worse than the time I hooked up a $15 fog light to replace a headlight that got smashed by deer impact. (Michigan cops are more than happy to pull you over and give you a ticket for having a headlight out).

      Nothing to do with envy.

I'm British, but I have to admit this is a very ugly car.
Look at some of those 20s and 30s beauties from Greenwich, Palm beach and Goodwood, and see how expensive cars once could combine quality with true beauty.

Anyone who wants a ride should stop by the house tomorrow - we'll take her out and spank her a little ( I know I'm a terrible liar but what can you do?) Pate and shotguns, tally ho!
