Alfa prices the 8C Competizione at ?159k
At long last, Alfa Romeo has confirmed the European pricing for its halo supercar, the achingly gorgeous 8C Competizione, with an MSRP of €159,300.
As Alfa Romeo previously announced, 99 examples of the total production run of 500 will be reserved for customers in the United States, where the 8C will be leading the company's return to the American market. While US Dollar pricing has yet to be announced for those 99, consider for reference that the €159,300 European price tag positions the 8C slightly below its corporate cousin, the Ferrari F430, which retails on the Continent for €175k.
While it was predicted that the 8C Competizione would be priced at closer to €135k, we doubt the higher sticker will keep Alfa Romeo from selling each and every one – and the subsequent run of topless Spider versions – or speculators from demanding significantly more for the privilege of buying what is arguably the most beautiful car ever to grace tarmac.

This car is incredible...I'll take one, eh, make that two, one to just sit and look pretty, and the other to drive.

the only reason this car is worth 159K is because the minute you buy it, you can turn around and sell it for 2 times as much. this might be one of the surest investments in automotive history...

This car is gorgeousness and georgeousity made flesh. It makes the GT-R look like a big HP Deskjet printer.

Hey, to each his own I guess. I'd probably take the GT-R over this, too. It nice but it doesn't move my soul.
Also, it's going to be a collector's item; so is anyone going to put more miles on it than one would on 911 or GT-R? I would probably drive a F430 more than I would this car, and the Ferrari costs more.

I have to agree. This is one of the most beautiful and graceful designs I've seen...I love the GT-R design as well, but this design is a pure classic...hehe, HP Printer :)

I don't know... this shot is gorgeous, but its profile (http://seriouswheels.com/2006/2006-Alfa-Romeo-8C-Competizione-Pre-Production-Side-1024x768.htm) is uglier.
I'll have to pass, perhaps with regret.

okay, more to the point. Todays list of articles references the 911 GT2 with a very similar price tag. so the question should be: this or a 911 GT2.
Obviously for investment, the Alfa wins.
For performance, I gotta guess the GT2
I love the looks of the Alfa. I'd probably pick it.

It's too darn pretty. You want to drive it, but you don't want to damage it either. What a torturous situation to be, but a desirable situation one if you are 'lucky' enough to own this car.

Price is really irrellivent when it comes to a car with such captivating looks, Alfa could really ask whatever it wants as far as i'm concerned.
