Porsches may be common on the streets today, compared to Lambo, Ferrari, or Aston, but what people see is mostly base Carrera or Carrera S. The GT3, GT2 are actually quite rare and exclusive, and people who buy them do not mind that they look almost the same as a car that costs two times less. Its the performance that matters, and looking at the specs and pictures, I have no doubts that they put their best in making this car reality (which cannot be said about the cayman it seems).

Val

Comments on

Porsche is a company all about engineering the finest cars. Porsche tried to kill the 911 before with the 928, but failed. The Cayman has what it takes for Porsche to pull it off this time. Porsche should be putting its engineering efforts into its best platform.

wushu

Comments on

I know it's against every instinct of the Porsche fanatics, but they really need to give up on the rear-engined layout. They have to resort to all kinds or chassis and suspension trickery to make it work. Imagine how good the 911 would be if they'd simply move the damned engine forward 18 inches... When you're talking about a no-limits, megabucks sportscar like the GT2, why compromise for the sake of tradition? I actually think the Boxster is a better car than the standard 911 and more true to Porsche's heritage anyway.

Hiro11

Comments on

I'm with you. Even though Porsche has evolved the 911 platform into many models, the 911 is still classic Porsche. When you think of Porsche, what model comes to mind? Maybe I'm old school, but why kill a good thing?
Andrew
Editor, Porsche360
http://www.porsche360.com/

porsche360
