New Gran Turismo 5 trailer confirms Ferrari included
UPDATED: Trailer with no soundtrack added so you can hear the engines!

One of the biggest complaints about the Gran Turismo series may be corrected when a mini version of the next game, called Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, hits store shelves later this year. GT Channel is reporting that the game will include Ferraris for the first time in its history. This is based on a recent trailer of GT 5 Prologue that shows a Ferrari F430 on track. We would imagine if the F430 is included, other of Modena's finest are, as well.
E3 is also going on as we speak, and news from the trade show today is that the full version of GT 5 won't be coming until at least the spring of 2008, Sony is releasing the smaller Gran Turismo 5 Prologue this year to keep us interested. Though likely featuring a small stable of cars, Prologue will reportedly allow online racing, which is another feature the GT series has gone without for too long.
Check out the newly released Gran Turismo 5 Prologue trailer featuring Ferraris on track after the jump.

Not a surprise, I hardly think they'd be able to get the 599 for GT HD and not have any Ferraris for GT5.

Graphics look incredible, but I'm not buying a PS3 to play this game unless it has realistic damage.

I wouldn't hold your breath on seeing damage - the manufacturers who license their cars to be used in video games are very protective of their image and don't want to see their cars displayed in such a manner.

Forza 2 has licensed cars from nearly every manufacturer and they ALL have damage, so that's not the problem.

It's just a pre-rendered video...not footage of actual gameplay.

what pk said was mentioned in a Car and Driver article on the creation of the new game. The creator won't do it until they can build a physics engine that can handle it realistically, in both appearance of the car and how it drives after the contact. I hope Prologue owners will get a discount on the full GT5 like a software upgrade!

>>Forza 2 has licensed cars from nearly every manufacturer
Forza 2 only has a handful of manufacturers compared with the hundreds upon hundreds of vehicles in GT (GT4 had 721 cars from 80 manufacturers). There is a huge difference in scale, and its likely difficult to get all manufacturers to agree. Especially with 80 manufactures represented. It'll be odd to have damage on some cars and not others.

It's about time they had Ferrari. I remember on at least GT2 I would just drive the Venturis and squint. Or get an Esprit without a wing and pretend it was a 348.
I believe there is a 250 GTO at the back of the pack during one scene in this video.
Hopefully Lamborghini will be included as well. I want to drive a Miura.

I think you'd be rather disappointed with the driving characteristics of a Lamborghini.

Hopefully when this game finally drops in spring PS3 will go down another $100. This will be the only reason why I plan to get a PS3.

It probably won't. It has just been confirmed that the recent $499 price drop for the 60GB PS3 is for "existing stock" only, and SONY will not be making any more 60GB version and instead replacing it with the 80GB SKU. Once all the 60GB PS3 is gone, the 80GB version will be the only SKU left priced at $599, on sale at the beginning of August.

I have a PS3 and it has been a painful wait for any good games to come out. Oh well, I am looking forward to this one ofcourse.

Too bad no one is buying a PS3. Sony's going the way of Sega.

Why do you say that Sony is going the way of Sega? Sure its a fact that the PS3 had a slow start but no more than any other console that came out. They sold out launch day and it was hard to find them on the shelves for the first few months. Not only that but the PS2 is STILL outselling the new XBox that came out almost 2 years ago.
With the recent $100 price drop on the PS3 it is already looking good for them.
Back to the real reason for this post. I think most people will agree it is about time Ferrari was in this series. Though this was known since the demo was released earlier in the PS3 launch.

Brandon,
It appears to me to be a TVR Tuscan at the back of that pack. It makes sense, too, in that grouping.

You, sir, are part of the problem here. >_

It looks like there was only 6 cars on track again. I thought they might have added full fields. I would also hope that they would add a save feature to endurance races.

actually there's a screenshot somewhere that shows 8 lotus(es?) on track.

There have been videos showing, oh, at least 12 cars on track (and implying many more). Of course, Polyphony doesn't exactly have a history of keeping promises...
