We've endlessly covered the impending arrival of Porsche's newest 911 variant, the GT2. Powered by the same force-fed 3.6-liter flat six as the Turbo, yet only sending power to the rear wheels, it's destined to be one of the greatest tarmac toys of this decade. And the cat is unofficially out of the bag.
Some enterprising web-geek was able to download a scan of the GT2 brochure and aside from all the glossy photos; the real dirt is on the second-to-last page – specs.
We'll keep it brief so you can ogle it yourself, but the GT2 is producing 530 HP at 6,500 RPM, and 505 lb.-ft. of torque between 2,200 – 4.500 RPM. A six-speed manual transmission sends power to the wheels, and allows the GT2 to run to 60 in 3.6 seconds, to 100 in 7.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 204 MPH. The curb weight is 3,175 pounds. "Respect required," indeed.
Check the gallery below for the rest of the details, and the flowery Porsche prose.
Top tip Brad and thanks for the leaked pages Maciej!

this thing is going to be stupid fast. like carrera gt fast. porsche is knocking on ferraris doorstep with a car like this.
Turbofrog @ Jul 12th 2007 10:02PM
A shame they dropped the ball on the aesthetics. The jutting front fascia and eggcrate grille and the two louvered vents on the rear are awful.
Don @ Jul 12th 2007 10:08PM
Bah!
The Penguin @ Jul 12th 2007 10:48PM
I was hoping that it would have something like 550-650 horsepower, but at least it gets over 200, and almost tops the Carrera Gt in performance. I wonder if a tuner like RUF will make an insane version of this car with something like 800 horsepower.
Barney @ Jul 12th 2007 11:41PM
Yes, I guess 530 HP just ain't enough. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
MikeW @ Jul 12th 2007 10:58PM
Gumballers, you car has arrived.
Any 7 speed double clutch? maybe next year.
HotRodzNKustoms @ Jul 12th 2007 11:07PM
this car must be closing in on the Carrera GT... that is crazy powerful for having the engine in the wrong place. The Porsche engineers are amazing.
Eddie @ Jul 12th 2007 11:57PM
It looks like the GT3 mixed with a Turbo, very good styling combo.
Porsche has been doing everything right lately.

drool.....
Andrew @ Jul 13th 2007 12:17AM
Wow..... thats pretty amazing, might be better with V-TEC though, you would definitely get better top end.!!!
JK, that car is a piece of engineering art by all standards.
Ken @ Jul 13th 2007 12:50AM
Honestly, could you really drive that on the street and have fun with it, or would be just be ready to kill you with one tiny mistake?
frondeur @ Jul 13th 2007 8:37AM
The last 2 GT-2s were "widow makers" because they didn't have any sort of electronic stability control, and dumbassed bankers and executives bought them because they were the most expensive car in the Porsche lineup...and crashed.
Now with PSM, PSAM, SC and TC the car can be more tame...and will be able to make up for the mistakes of people with more money than brains.
Hopefully this will prevent this GT-2 from becoming the depreciation disater the last one was.
YouFaceTheTick @ Jul 13th 2007 3:10AM
And yet BMW's 1 series will weigh 200 lbs more. Guess you get what you pay for and I'd love to find a way to pay for a GT2.
Pouya @ Jul 13th 2007 5:46AM
Great specifications, but I do prefer the exterior of the GT3 over the GT2.
Porsche is very conservative with their performance estimates. It is very likely the GT2 will be even quicker and faster than what the brochure states.
Porsche makes fantastic cars. It is too bad they are so common. I am willing to compromise some of Porsche's performance and subjective "feel" advantage for something more exclusive and sexy like an Aston Martin, Ferrari, or Lamborghini.
YouFaceTheTick @ Jul 13th 2007 10:13AM
Wow, someone would pick faux exclusivity over raw performance? Hmmm, you're buying basically to show off then?
Pouya @ Jul 13th 2007 8:42PM
@ YouFaceTheTick
There are more benefits to exclusivity than "showing off." For one, since Porsches are as common as BMWs and Toyotas where I live, -->I

legendary Porsche 911 & This Porsche GT2 Brochure is the longest production run sports car of all time.......its really a posh cars full of speed & arrogancy....looks like black leopard...
The Other Bob @ Jul 13th 2007 9:16AM
Yawn. Yes, yawn.
I apologize to the Porsche aficionados out there, but picture after picture of Porches that pretty much look like every other Porsche just doesn't excite. Maybe it's because I will never afford one, but I just don't get excited anymore. I'd rather see the latest photo of a car I am realistically going to own.
It's sorta like seeing another $50,000 version of the Mustang. I like Mustangs, but really once you've seen one version...
CoffeeJones @ Jul 13th 2007 12:06PM
Yeah, but there's more difference between the base and top end 911 than there is on between the base and top end (production) Mustangs.
This is the 'money no object' 997 but is still factory serviceable and warranty-able while still keeping the same shape, i.e. not CTR3.
IIRC the GT3 is more of a road going version of the homologated GT3 RS-R/Cup that they use in races. No turbos allowed.
So:
911 Carrera S -> GT3
911 Turbo -> GT2
Turbofrog @ Jul 13th 2007 6:56PM
Wait, there's more of a difference between a 325 hp "base" Carrera and a 530 hp GT2 than there is between a 210 hp Mustang V6 and a 500 hp GT500?
I think you picked the wrong example for your point.
