Not easy being green: First 2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 off the line
The 2008 Dodge Viper is one mean machine, with 600hp, 560 lb-ft torque, and one of the most badass production hoods in the history of the automobile. Dodge's newest Viper will be on dealer lots shortly (if only for a minute before being sold), and the folks over at Dragtimes caught one of the preproduction models right off the assembly line. The Snakeskin Green Viper represents one of the five "Lifesaver" colors, which also includes Venom Red, Viper Violet, Viper Orange, and Bright Blue. Way to sissy up an American classic, Dodge. Then again, with killer looks and a sledge hammer for an accelerator, we wouldn't complain if this baby ended up in the Autoblog Garage regardless of color.

I actually dont mind that color. With as much flash as the viper has, what's a little extra in the form of bright green paint?

Sissy? I don't recall hearing anyone calling a Lamborghini Gallardo in a color very similar to that "sissy". Anyway, as stupid as this color would look on a Kia Rio or Toyota Camry, it definitely has purpose here...

There is nothing SISSY about "look at me" green when you are rolling in a brand new Viper.

And too often we forget the Viper while gabbing on and on about the 'Vette.

You couldn't sissy up this beast even if you put a vase (ala VW Beetle) on the console.
Glad to see Dodge finally fighting back, they just rolled over and played when Chevy threw a haymaker punch at them in the form of the C6 Z06.
Now if only they'd find a way to it on a weight loss program.

Not only a weight loss program, but a complete make-over. This car looks VERY dated.

A face lift would be fine, the Porsche 911 xxx has been the pretty much the same car since 1964. Nobody complains about that.

But the 911 was pretty.

Dodge must relish this brief time; this calm before the storm, before the ZO7 (or whatever it'll be called) shows up on the block...the proverbial mongoose to the snake.
I'd still be curious to see a comparo between the ZO6 and this new beast. I'm sure the extra horses make a difference, but how much of one?

Pontiac circa 1994 called-- it's a little upset its "design" ideas are being put on the market again.

The lines of the car look damn good. I'll take mine in metallic black, thanks. The green is cool, but it's not for everyone (including me).

It's about damn time the Viper was offered in more than two or three colors at a time. It's just too bad it had to happen the year they introduce this ugly hood.
I can't wait to see the bright blue and the violet.

awesome looking, now I just gotta figure out what exhaust makes the v10 sound more like a muscle v8 which better suits the "bad ass" nature of the viper IMO.
