Paulin releases its vision for the future
The Swedish design firm Paulin has released images of a new concept that, although only existing in the virtual world, might spell the future of car design in the next five years.
Paulin has worked with Hyundai, Kia, MG Rover and Tata in the past, and seems to put a lot of stake in its swooping designs that the firm expects to set the standard for exterior shaping in next generation automobiles.
It's easy to be impressed by the aggressive lines, we've seen more revolutionary designs at auto shows in the past decade – and we're not convinced that Lambo-doors are going prime-time anytime soon.

I think I drew this car during English class in middle school, only mine had rocket launchers and machine guns with bullets flying out of the barrel.
Is this the 1954 Corvette concept form the 1930 worlds fair?

Gotta be honest, nothing all that original here, but at least they're just taking a Lexus IS and removing the L badges. They DO seem to use a Bentley badge, with different letters. I see lots of Corvette, Cobra, E-Type, Excelro, and Nagare in the lines, and the tiny greenhouse and swing-up doors are just dumb, IMO. Funny to be claiming to set a standard when clearly several existing standards consciously or unconsciously informed this design. I can only describe the profile as dopey. Back to the drawing board, Paulie.

I'm curious to see if they can even get windshield wipers to work on the bubble canopy.
Maybe they should just eliminate the greenhouse and go with cameras all around.

But seriously -- bubble cockpit? George Jetson would be proud.
It's kind of like those Porsche Design goodies that have been posted in the past month. Yeah, they are kind of neat, but when it comes down to it there seems to be no soul at all -- just like the 911.

The problem with these lightweight, aerodynamic, and intelligent designs is that they don't meet up with the ridiculous NHTSA impact standards. Anyone else want to lynch Ralph Nader?

is it just me, or do the wheels look like eyes? the black fenders also give it the look of sunglasses. i guess this is why its their "vision" of the future

It's an interesting design study. Those people that are expecting anything else here (like roll-down windows) need to view it as a concept only. Each concept, by definition, is a "vision of the future". Just a drawing.
Lots of critics out there, not enough appreciation.
