Make the 3.0L diesel optional and I'll buy one.

I agree with Henry, a 2.5L-3.5L diesel would really make the Dakota appealing. The difference in fuel economy between fullsize V8 and Compact/Midsize V8 is only 1-2 mpg. This doesn't justify the downgrade in size unless you live in an urban area.
I think the redesign is succesfull. The new interior is well laid out and roomy. The new 4.7L puts out good affordable/reliable OHV power. However, I DO THINK CHRYSLER SHOULD BRAND THIS ENGINE AS A JR. HEMI. Being that the 5.7L seems to be thirstier than the Ford and GM V8's. The only downside is the front end styling. This seems to always be the achilies heal of the Dakota.
The price is great and thousands less than a Tacoma (not including additional rebates).

Logic...
If you live in an urban area, do you really need a midsize truck, either?

How about the diesel from the "Dodge" Sprinter. I wonder if Dodge will keep selling sprinters, since it is a Benz design.
