Man up with the Ford Falcon XR8 Ute

It's very much a man's world in this new TV spot for Ford's Aussie-market Falcon XR8 Ute. It's a land where sandwiches are delivered by the paperboy in the morning, the ice cream man is replaced by the ice-cold beer man, 280 inches seems like a perfectly reasonable size for a TV, every store sells tools, and metrosexuals are feeling the heat. In the land of the XR8 Ute, blokes rule.
It's a great, clever, funny spot for the Down Under Ranchero. Follow the jump to see it for yourself. For more, visit the commercial's homepage, where a "making of" video will be available sometime soon and you can also see it in higher res.
Thanks to Daniel for the tip!

Not only should Ford be selling that car here, their advertising should be just as good.
This is the most clever car spot I've seen since the Hyundai comparison commercials.

I am very offended by this commercial! I demand they take this off the air immediately and apologize to men, women, and metrosexuals everywhere.
Men should be ashamed of themselves for liking beer, tools, and cars. This behavior should be discouraged by every form of media out there until all men behave like women!

....'cause men want to attract the attention of other men.

If Ford were to sell it here in the States I would put it on my short list. Bring it here as it is (flip the drivers side) and Ford will have a winner.
Love the ad also.

now if THAT doesn't promote drinking and driving...

The ad implies men like Beer AND Cars. It doesn't say men like their beer WITH or IN the car. Some of you are so sensitive.

looks like a more-or-less acceptable car to me.
the commercial itself is pretty entertaining, and i'd give it an "A" if it weren't for that little bit about "police targeting metrosexuals". don't know if that's code for something else, but it didnt seem right.

Here in Oz, signs saying Police now targeting _______ are everywhere...
The usual "targets" are speeding, drink driving, speeding in school zones...

The boy at the opening of the ad delivers a meat pie, the classic working man's lunch, not a sandwich.
Ford's Australian operations introduced the "utility body sedan" in 1934 and is has been in continuous production save the War, even sharing the vehicle with Nissan in the Button era. It would be more appropriate to describe the vehicle as the daddy of the Ranchero or something like that.
Metrosexuals are not well considered in Austrailia, even indeed especially, among the gay community.

Thats actually a doner kebab...not a meat pie or a sandwich

I need better resolution ... not just on the computer.

Ford needs this styling here in the States. Austrialians have a better eye for taste than we do. with few exceptions like the Vette and Mustang.
