The picture there shows President Bush and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) smiling during a recent ceremony honoring the Tuskegee Airmen. The two might not have as much to bond over if Pelosi moves forward with her pledge to bring a proposal to raise fuel economy standards to the House floor next month, which could pave the way for Bush to decide whether or not he's going to veto the bill.

Pelosi said yesterday she likes the recently-passed Senate mileage bill as she introduced a Democratic package of energy bills. Pelosi pulled the fuel economy increases from this set of bills so it will be a "consensus package." She explained that she's in discussions to try and figure out how best to bring the CAFE debate to the House.
