VIDEO: Supercar road test
The lads at Autocar magazine really do have one of the best jobs in the world. They recently put together a "test" comparing some of the fastest cars in the world, including the Bugatti Veyron. Other cars include the brand new Lambo Gallardo Superleggera, Audi R8, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and the Aston Martin DB9 with Sports Pack.
While this video isn't a review per se, you do get an idea of the different personalities of each car and some flaws. If nothing else, watch it for the shots of a DB9 drifting through a corner or hearing the bark of the 530hp V10 engine in the Gallardo.

the 987 figure comes from a conversion of the regular 1000 hp figure into different units. however, as many articles have pointed out, the reality is that each engine that leaves the factory is underrated. that is, they all make enough power to easily top 1000 hp in either unit of measurement.

This guy looks familiar...I remember reading an article in Automobile magazine, awhile back, about a Lambo LP640 jaunt through Europe. Is this the same guy?

Nice bit of closed road :-) Cause you would have to be mad to mak cars like this in the middle of a bend and even madder to powerslide a DB9 like that on a public road. I wonder if that isn't filmed at the VAG test facility in Germany...

The 987 BHP is correct, VW measure all they cars in PS (pfederstarken? i think) which is the metric equivalent. Normally the difference isn't that much, but when you multiply a small difference by 1000 it gets much bigger.
The guy in the video is Chris Harris, he's a regular writer for autocar and also does a lot of the videos on their website.

as earlyer pointed out no Veyron engine left the VW engine plant in Salzgitter with less than 1040hp ... no matter if PS, hp, Bhp the Veyron has everywere on earth 1001hp...
Every engine does a 20hour dyno run befor it is send to the Bugatti plant and there they make a nother dyno run after the engine is installed in the chassie. No customer recive a Veyron with less than 1000PS, hp or bhp!!!!!!
All that stupid talking about less than 1000hp is from a old US article were a smart guy realized that 1000PS are not 1000hp..

I was grinning rather maniacally when the Veyron "LandJet" suddenly sidled up to his R8 and dusted him like an F-22 shooting past the Wright brother's plane. Very humbling for the Audier. I'd never that demonstrated so straightforwardly before. It's just hilariously fast.

wish there was a koeinsegg ccx in this mix, i want to see that vs a veryon. Top gears test of the ccx was impressive. I would love to see what someone would think of them side by side.
