Click image for photo galleryFord has announced a new special-edition Focus exclusive to the Spanish market called the WRC-S. Despite the fancy name, it's mechanically identical to the existing Focus 2.0 TDCi. The 136-horsepower WRC-S is limited to 666 units, each of which sports the Focus ST's bodywork, is painted white, and wears the graphics package you see above, combining a checkered-flag motif, the WRC logo, and each car's serial number. 10-spoke 18" wheels round out the external features.
Inside, the black seats are trimmed with Alcantara and feature white piping and contrast stitching. Bluetooth, dual-zone climate control, and a leather-wrapped wheel are also standard, and each car is signed by BP-Ford World Rally Team driver Marcus Grönholm, which certainly adds some interest and collector's appeal to what is otherwise an appearance package. The price is set at €23,895.

Why can't the U.S. have these things? This car looks sweet.

It would be great if Ford gave this a more powerful engine (~200hp) and can anyone tell me if this is AWD?
And I'd much rather have this than our new '08 Focus, proving once again that the U.S. hardly ever gets any of Ford's "good stuff" from overseas.

Jon,
It's FWD.

Something like this would be a great Civic, WRX or Scion fighter.
I can't understand Ford for the life of me. Why would you not bring this to the US? This and the Mondeo?

When they brought the SVT Mark I to our shores, sales were lackluster. Do you really think they care for a repeat with a more expensive model?
I wish I saw more of these on the streets, and my ZX3 model has been a blast to drive, but they do have a business to run.

Ya know, this is bullshit. I'm sorry but the current focus looks like shit to me. This one actually looks kinda cool, but we'll never see it over on this side of the pond. And the Mondeo.... WTF. Ford, suck my balls.

While in Spain a year ago, I had the chance to rent one of the Focus (obviously not this model) but the car was wonderful to drive, park, and cut through the TINY streets of Seville...not to mention very sharp looking. We are so shafted in the US.

The 666 model will be known as Christine to the owner.

The 2.0 TDCi is a stock diesel engine, hence the apparently low power rating. For the ST variant, Ford could have boosted it further using sequential turbos, a supercharger/turbo combo or a pressure-wave charger. Apparently, that would have been a tad expensive so they've just changed the optics.
Ford can't sell this in the US because it can't (afford to) meet EPA/CARB ueber-clean emissions standards for a hot hatch. Same old same old.

666 units? Uhhhhhhhhhhh...that's one number I'm not messing with.
