The funny spelling of the word "expression" isn't the oddest thing that Scion has in store for their consumers. This year, the annual Scion Exprescion event will take place on "The Rock", or Alcatraz if you prefer. The inescapable prison's showers will be used for a fashion show, the event, described as blending "performance, interactive environments, art installations, cutting-edge music and fashion for owners and enthusiasts", is set to take place on June 16th. I would expect a pretty big event here, since Scion has one brand new model in the XD and one totally revised model in the XB. Oh yeah, and because they promise an "array of beautiful circus freaks" in the prison hospital too. That should be interesting.

I just drove the New 2008 xB yesterday at my local Dealer. I've got to say I was less than impressed, this is moving away from what made the first car so novel and innovative. It's got more room but feels like you're in a gun turret, it's got more power but wieghs more, so it feels larger and more lumbering. And 22/28 mpg with a manual and FWD? WTF? Please, that's SUV territory. I know that's with the new EPA rating system and all, but that's pathetic. I'm hoping the xD with it's corolla engine, puts up some corolla like numbers... We'll see.

I'm with you Bungle. Unless the xD comes up with the right numbers, I'll definitely be looking at a Fit or Versa. For those of us that loved the original xB for its simplicity and efficiency, the new version is disappointing (- by the numbers at least as I haven't driven one.)

Although more expensive, the Toyota Matrix is significantly better at the fuel pump than the new xB. I wonder what the 2008 model of the Matrix will bring?

Maybe I'll just have to go looking for one of the last 2006 xBs.

When are they going to reveal pricing and detailed specs for the xD already? I'm dying here!

Toyota really ruined everything with the new xB. Instead of having a fun, fuel efficient, funky car you have a minivan-esqe vehicle with SUV economy. Please, no one buy one so maybe Toyota will quickly ditch this thing and go back with a winner. A car like this should not get under 30 in any circumstance.

"And 22/28 mpg with a manual and FWD? WTF? Please, that's SUV territory."

That's exactly what I thought - and exactly the reason I never had much interest in the tC. It's a nice looking car, but heavy and not terribly fuel efficient - just where the new xB seems to have ended up. I get similar gas mileage in my Mazda B2300 pickup!

I'm with you on the xD - Yaris chassis + Corolla engine should equal decent power/weight ratio and great mileage, and I would *hope* that they can keep it well under $15k (I think they'll need to to compete with the Honda Fit). I'll be buying a Fit in late July unless Scion can convince me otherwise by then. ;-)
