Spy Shots: Next-gen Chevy Lacetti
Lehmann has captured a camoflaged Chevy running around the Nurburgring that we'll likely see in the States as the Suzuki Forenza. The Lacetti is sold around the world under varied monikers -- it's the Forenza here, in the UK it's the Chevy Lacetti, and China gets it as a Buick. They all started off as the smartly styled Daewoo Nubira. The styling doesn't appear to be a huge departure from the incumbent's Pininfarina lines. The "shoulder" line at the top of the doors is more defined and dips further, and the grille and headlights are new, of course. Looking through the camo, it appears that there's a more pronounced shape to the hood, but we notice a little weirdness where all the lines meet at the base of the A-pillar. Once the wraps come off, we're sure it'll all make sense, and the new Lacetti will carry handsome and inoffensive lines, just like the outgoing design. [Source: World Car Fans]

it will not make the Sentra pretty, it'll just be another offer to make the Sentra owners feel like they are not the only ugly duckling

Of course, it's all a matter of taste.

And also known as the Chevrolet Optra in Southeast Asia...

Americans will be surprised to know that this is also the Chevrolet Optra in neighbouring Canada --it comes in 5 doors, sedan, and SW formats and sells quite well --perhaps better than the Cobalt ;-)

I like how people look at the heavy camo and say "oh it is extraordinarily ugly" How can you tell? I mean really. That girl is wearing a hoodie, she must be fat and ugly.

Now that GM has divested itself of its stake in Suzuki, will this next gen model (or is it just a refresh?) really be available in the U.S. as a Suzuki?

I've read somewhere here in A-blog some months ago that as per Suzuki's head honcho, Suzuki Auto is developing their next mid sized Forenza offering as a REAL Suzuki; and would not be sourced from another GM/DAT(aka Daewoo) line.
With that said, I think the above mentioned cloaked Chevy will NOT be the next Forenza...

Looks to be the "love" child of a Sentra and ION with some sort of Dodge truck lost uncle in the mix.

Looks like a Saturn Ion side shot.

Given that GM's Opel is getting a version of Suzuki's profoundly improved Wagon-R replacement the Splash for the UK and other markets (some of which will be badged as Chevy's) it appears that both sides assurances that their partnership has not terminated is accurate. The XL7 is being produced out of the jointly GM owned CAMI in Canada and while I am not altogether sure why Suzuki will need the SX4s and the Forenzas the fact is GM-DAT is shaping up to be a lucrative facility and with a limited production capacity I don't see Suzuki walking away as quality issues are finally being resolved. FYI Chev no longer sells the Optra sedan in Canada just the 5 door and wagon - the only GM-Dat Suzuki Canada sells is the rebadged Aveo 5 door which it is sure to drop with the arrival of the Swift. Perhaps they will slot this in as a class above the SX4?

I don't know where you live but where I live that isn't so. The hot girls are going out and buying $150 designer hoodies and $300 for ripped and worn out jeans. So let us reserve judgment for when the car is shown without camo.

I doubt Suzuki will use GM/Daewoo again. They were burned on warranty issues with the cars. I think it was here that I read about the CEO having stern words with GM about the quality at the plant. They said they would not use the Verona replacement unless they could be in control of powertrain developement.
