Schumi's new job: Test driver for Ferrari
Michael Schumacher's credentials run the gamut: 1995's youngest double Formula 1 World Champion, most career wins, most wins in a season, most consecutive wins, etc. Now he can add a notch on his belt representing his role as test driver for Ferrari... or at least for a day.
Autocar spies caught a rare sight the other day -- a Ferrari 599 GTB on the Nurburgring rather than its test track in Fiorano. After witnessing some pretty serious hot rodding, the photographers zoomed in on the driver... only to see one Michael Schumacher at the wheel. Future profession for Schumi, or entertaining day trip? Hopefully we'll find out soon. High-res photo available here
Thanks for the tip, Wang Meng!

can you even begin to imagine how insane it would be to be the passenger with him driving the ring??
betcha he's got one of those little ferrari "passports" that were featured in a post a week or two ago...

The driver's side front wheel isn't even touching the road.this is awesome, I wonder how fast they are going. And if they are going as fast as I think they are that is one nice camera.

They needed someone who could drive an Enzo.

Maybe it's just his private vehicle that's he's having a drive in...I mean he IS German, why not take it to the best driving track in the world to have a go?

It's definitely not his. It has manufacturers plates on it, never mind the fact that it's covered in some sort of protective film and it has an antenna on the passenger's window to transmit test data.

Wow. He's three-wheeling that corner in the high-res photo...

Geez, buddy. You're being driven around the 'ring in a Ferrari piloted by Schumacher. You think you could crack a little smile?

Could it be the test mule for the more powerful version of the 599 GTB, the one designed by Pininfarina, with the nose, the one posted some time ago on Autoblog?

that must be some SICK acceleration, because they just came out of a corner that isn't that fast. And its not like one of the back wheels are up from braking, its the front wheel which has the engine on top of it. Damn. Thats powerful..

good point antonio-
based on the pavement and banking, that does look like the exit of the carousel... for him to have a wheel off the ground(especially with a suspension as sophisticated as that); he must be wailing on the car.
as i alluded to earlier, i can think of nothing i wouldn't give for a ride with shumi around the ring in a ferrari... probably one of the few people who could put Sabine to shame.

That is the exit of the smale Karusell at the Schwalbenschwanz not the famous large Karusell. Lifting there the inside front wheel has nothing to do with engine power..it is a indication that the chassie is extrem stiff and allows next to no torrsion.. many testmulse do that. The Aston Martin DB9 testmule did the same there.

Maybe they figured they'd just as soon put Schumi behind the wheel as expensive Ferraris have been going up in smoke as of late?

The new job what michael will be under taking i am so pleased with him, whatever he does he knows whats best, as for his wages $85.5 million a year he deserves every cents and dollars going after all he has worked hard and a great guy in company, he is a good saving not like many celebrities save there money they waste it all on drugs, booze or other rubbish, michael spents it wisely.i wish him well.

I dont mind Michael Schumacher being a test driver for ferrari at least he still is around doing something and i dare say the other teams dont like it,thats just to bad, i am so pleased he is attending to some grand prixs and i have noticed he still looks well and i am very pleased for what he has been doing, being a ferrari advisor that sounds great, what i lovely feeling that his president hasnt forgotten him and i dont fancy michael being pushed to the scrap heap pile he is too good for that.
