VIDEO: Fifth Gear drives the Continental GTC... right off the runway
The Bentley Continental GTC is a rare and beautiful car with style and grace, 552hp, and the cachet that can only come from something wearing the binged B. We actually drove a GTC briefly last year, and you can rest assured that it didn't suck.
Tiff Needell and the Fifth Gear video crew were able to take out the droptop Conti for a full video feature, and the high-dollar production (they shoot test drives with a helicopter) is as good as you'd expect. In the video, Tiff took some pretty ladies for a 150mph stroll down the runway with the top down. The reason? He had a theory that the faster you go with the roof stowed, the less wind enters the cabin. The female passengers were there to see if their hair blew at high speed (so says Tiff). Well, that hypothesis didn't hold water, but Mr. Needell did manage to run out of runway. Amazingly, the AWD Continental GTC didn't give the first hint of losing control, and neither Tiff nor his companions looked the least bit frightened. These guys have the best jobs and they do it great. They ( Tiff and Jason Plato) are professional drivers and they are fun to watch.

If that was sarcasm.... they probably were. Showed a 0-150 Straight-Line Performance, and 100mph Automatic AWD on loose surface.

Only Tiff the legend could turn running out of runway into a fine 4 wheel drift on dirt with 2 beautiful women in the back. The man is class.
5th Gear still isn't better the topgear, however cute those girls were :)

Staged slide off the end. Still how much fun can you have doing rally turns in a Bentley with two girls laughing in the back. I wonder how many takes they did "just to be sure it looks right". I'd have been doing it all afternoon. The girls would have to be Royal Navy sailers who don't get motion sick. Who-Ho

wow... watching this made me realize: what the heck happened to Top Gear? They used to have such great reviews on many hot new cars that were coming out but now it seems like they focus purely on their main 'wacky' story that has a lot of comedic value but not much when it comes to car reviews anymore.

This was scripted... sorry to sound like an ass, but i'm sure it was. Like he didn't knew were to brake or hadn't done a test-run before the actual shooting f the scene.
And about the 'driting'... Even a 5y old kid (if he can reach the pedals) can do that in a AWD car with esp and electronic diff's. Really no big deal!

That is a great clip, I agree that it does make you wonder what happened to Top Gear. Bentley sure has been able to keep coming up with great cars.

i can honestly say ive driven one of those :)
got to valet one of those half a year ago. event was at a house high in the hills and the lot we used was about a mile from the pickup place so that mile was simply awesome hehe
