eBay Find of the Day: Wrangler Unlimited w/ SRT-8 HEMI

Well, this looks like it could be fun. If you're in the market for a new Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited, you might want to check out this eBay auction first. The Jeep that's up for grabs has under 300 miles on it, and while it may look bone-stock, it's anything but. When you lift the hood, you'll find a 6.1L SRT-spec HEMI. The work was done by Burnsville Offroad, which specializes in conversions like this. According to Burnsville's website, an upgraded radiator is part of the deal when they perform these HEMI swaps, so cooling won't be a problem. All the accessory systems work as new, too. Looks like it came out of a Jeep factory, only better. Added bonus: you'll surprise more than a few unsuspecting drivers at stoplight grands prix.
Nice tip, Jay!

I'll add another yawn.
With gas approaching $4/gal, people are going to be unloading these pathetic gas pigs as if they were Enron stock.
There are lots of interesting vehicles on Ebay. This ain't one of them.

#1 and 2, you guys are naysayers. Even if gas were ten/gallon, I would opt for the SRT8. If the question is how you value your driving experience, the price of gas is not important. Don't get me wrong, if there was an electric car with uber-performance, I would choose that over gas guzzler, but, unfortunately, that's not the case with the exception of the electric lotus-based car that California company made.

and to add a real comment, with that much torque, 30mpg easy.

A Hemi won't improve the performance of the Jeep off road. It probably makes it worse.

@4: I don't like Cheney, no. However, I do like performance cars.
But by all means, throw your money away.

Maybe not something I would buy but certainly something I would love to try out. Very good workmanship. A transplant these days is not an easy task.

If it weren't for gas prices, I'd be all over this thing. Sadly, my budget won't allow for such a toy.

Great, looks like a suped up rubbermaid plastic container.
Yes I know the cheap looking plastic fenders and bumpers are better for off-roading, but it's obvious that Jeep (as well as most mall cruisers) won't ever be going off-road. Would it hurt Jeep to throw in a little more sheep metal in a car approaching $30k?

not sure about an SRT hemi, but accounts state over and over that TJ's with 5.7 Hemi swaps actually get better milage than a 4L, mostly because it can hang out in overdrive all day long. The idle torque of a small block, be it a chevy, an AMC or a Hemi, works awesome on the trail. If you don't wheel, don't spout off what doesn't work.

Hmmm...A big honkin Hemi in a vehicle with, um, less-than-ideal on-road handling. It'll be on its roof within a month in the hands of the yayhoo that buys it.

The hard ride keeps me alert and the 4X4 works fine. Big high-end power in any jeep seems like an oxy-moron.
The main point we are missing here is that we are all chained to our driveway when some emergency closes the local pumps to all but the Military, police and utilities repair teams.
The Phoenix EV SUT short box would get us out and around town though . . . eh? = TG

Just because it has a ton of power doesn't mean it drives like crap or can't off road. That would be if one of them were behind the wheel. I have personally seen and driven several of these in Moab this year and are nothing less than impressive!
