You can't really blame Pontiac for giving its rear-wheel-drive G8 Concept and G6 GXP to rapper 50 Cent to use in his video for the song "Amusement Park". After all, pick a premium nameplate like Bentley, Rolls Royce, Lamborghini or Ferrari and one could find at least half a dozen (or more) music videos in which each marque has been featured prominently. At the same time, we must remember these are Pontiacs, and so we're asked to suspend disbelief and accept that given the choice, Fifty and his entourage would roll in one of these two vehicles before a Bentley Continental GTC, Rolls Royce Phantom, Lamborghini Gallardo or Ferrari Enzo.

Note: If you're not into rap and want to get to the goods, fast forward to 2:00 in and you'll have your prize, though the Pontiacs only get 4 seconds of screen time.

      "who's buying it anyway."

      Not I.

Sorry, but this just keeps me going. I'm tired of everybody always downing GM anyway. I think the Pontiacs look great. Would I buy the G8, if I could? Hell Yes! The G6 is a little small for my taste, but I still think its a looker. I'm a fan of American cars and companies, Foriegn cars are cool but I'm not going to down the american product. I read people saying GM needs to just die. If Gm just die then there would be another American company that takes a dive and millions are unemployed.

50cent is nothing but a poser now. He didn't even get shot nine times, they found out it was only three. He's not even as good as he used to be. They should of done this at the start of his career.

Tyra Michaels, while I obviously agree with you, (I'm trying to be a peacemaker) Please don't make this out to be a race issue. It's defending the culture of rap and hip-hop. The are a lot of different people of different ethnic backgrounds in the genre. Let's not turn this into a race issue so it won't get blown out of proportion. Check out LLN for the same story and how not to conduct yourself when making comments that people from all over the world reads.

by the way I checked out your blog... cool deal.

If anything, this whole Pontiac product placement deal may have a backlash on 50. On other sites, people are leaving sarcastic comments like, "Pontiacs!?!, wow 50, you're quite the baller....lol!"

If this is a marketing move and I believe it is, it's a bad one. If it isn't, then why.....

Jeeez, u guys have got to be objective in the way u think.
If 50 was shot 3 or 9 times is very irrelevant. Why would any one use derogatory words when speaking about 50? Who ides and made u guys king to call him names. Y'all aint better than him. He's there making money and gaining popularity while ur sorry asses are here whining like kids. There are a lot of Celebrities but GM chose him, what's the problem wt that? Grow up and stop being rac..ts.

It's a shame GM felt the need to associate a nice car like the G8 with this vulgar trash.

Just when I think the IQ of the average poster on Autoblog can't get any lower, someone comes along to lower the bar even further. There's a reason why insects eat their young...

LOL, the funny thing is. Hip Hop is pop culture now. It is probably one of the most popular american cultures in the world right now. Hip hop isn't all bad....but if it was, wouldn't that reflect the mindstate of america, after all...who's buying it anyway.

Associating with thugs and criminals - a brilliant idea. Why not get the KKK or Al Quaeda to star in Pontiac commercials? "This message from Osama brought to you by Pontiac." This makes me sick.

Tyra , pay it no mind, we know that how they think anyway
