Even Stephen Colbert has to wait for a Ferrari

It appears Ferrari may be facing a growing number of disgruntled owners who are not happy having to wait in line 24 months for a new Italian Stallion. You can count Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert among the disgruntled, as he revealed on The Colbert Report this week that he'll have to wait months to replace his ratty 550 with 4,000 miles for a brand spanking new Lime Green 599 GTB Fiorano (with a platinum Jesush fish on the bumper, of course). Ever the schemer, Stephen announced he's willing to trade his spot on the kidney donor list to anyone at the front of the line to buy a Ferrari. Only Ferrari faithful with potential renal failure need apply.
Check out the clip from The Colbert Report after the jump in case you missed it.

Poor guy. Perhaps he should do something useful with his money - there are starving children out there after all. I'm sure he gives plenty to charities but the fact remains, these people can buy something a whole lot cheaper - like a Corvette - and give the money they save to feed and shelter the less fortunate.

But a corvette sucks compared to the 599...

Tim,
there is nothing in the world that says money automatically grants the owner with a proportionate amount of ethics, morals, empathy, compassion, common sense,...
We might all be better or worse off...

I thought this was a car enthusiast website... If I could afford a 599 (and in Stephen's case, a lot of them) I would probably buy one over a Corvette. If this guy isn't entitled to buy a Ferarri without a bunch of people whining, who the hell is?

Any durn foo' with eyes can see than the closeup of the front bumper is not that of a Fiorano at all!
Someone should tell Colbert about the Italian-style labour strike that's slowing production even more, though not stopping it.

Sorry, my comment got cut off. The Corvette might not hold it's own with a 599 but the Z06 can.

But its a Chevy...it'll break after 1k and it'll be worth 20k in a year or two. Oh, and the interior sucks...to put it bluntly.

@justin: No.
The Ferrari will be in the shop at 500 miles for a new clutch and probably cooling issues.

Yea, any garden variety Corvette will be light years more reliable than any Ferrari. A Ferrari is for someone mere looking for a weekend toy who can afford the astronomical repair and maintenance bills.
