Audi releases pair of exclusive color packages for RS4

RS4 Ibis White -- Click image to enlarge
This was news that came out earlier in the week, but we held off on covering it because there was no media released in association with it. We're talking about the new Audi exclusive Phantom Black and Ibis White packages for the RS4. Since they're paint-and-trim deals, you can see why we wanted to wait for a photo. Both take a monochrome exterior approach, with the Ibis White package going slightly further (and costing more) -- even the grille surround is white, in a change from its standard metallic appearance. Both cars feature black interiors, with grey contrast stitching in the Phantom Black RS4 and white for the Ibis White car. In addition to the color/trim packs, the cars are equipped with the "sports suspension plus," which is dropped an additional 10mm. Pricing for the Phantom Black RS4 option is set at €6,500, while the Ibis White edition comes in at €7,200. Additional details are in the Audi press release pasted after the jump.

PRESS RELEASE:
New styling packages from quattro GmbH
Audi RS 4 exclusive in black and white
Attractive visual highlights for the exterior and interior
quattro GmbH is further enhancing the visual attractiveness of the Audi RS 4 with two new equipment packages for the sports saloon and the Avant. The Black Audi exclusive and White Audi exclusive styling packages offer sophisticated optional extras.
The two paint finishes, Phantom Black, pearl effect and Ibis White, ensure a striking exterior design for the V8 models. The Black styling packages and the White styling package with an ibis white single-frame grille provide the quattro models with a wealth of enhancements. The refined titanium look of the 9Jx19 cast aluminium wheels in 7 twin-spoke design with size 255/35 R19 tyres is also found on the exterior mirrors.
In the interior, the RS 4 unites the functionality of a sports car with an elegant, sophisticated ambience. RS bucket seats with painted backrest covers in phantom black or ibis white are a highlight. The premium standard is effectively maintained in the seat upholstery, which is made of Valcona leather in black metallic with decorative stitching in jet grey or ibis white depending on the styling package. These colour accents are also found on the RS sports steering wheel, the steering wheel rim, the gear knob and the handbrake grip, all of which are trimmed in high-quality suede. Exclusive front floor mats feature the RS 4 logo with piping in jet grey or alabaster white. What's more, the paintwork colour of the inlays corresponds to the colour accents of the given styling package.
All in all, not only do the new styling packages underline the dynamism of the sports saloon and the Avant on the exterior; they also provide visual highlights in the interior. The Phantom Black styling package costs 6,500 euros, while the Ibis White package costs 7,200 euros.
The 309 kW/420 bhp V8 engine with FSI direct injection and a high-revving concept has an electronically governed maximum speed of 280 km/h. As an option – and at no additional cost – the two RS 4 styling packages include sports suspension plus, lowered by 10 mm.

So that's between six and seven thousand Euros for paint? (Oh and dropping the suspension). It better taste of bubblegum when you lick it. Maybe they should go the whole hog and make a John Schneider version.

LOL @ the bubble gum comment.
You really think that @ that price point 6-7000 euros matters that much..... please... People spend twice that on asesthetics such as aftermarket rims alone, along with other worthless aftermarket crap. Atleast this is all factory.
I think it is drop dead hawt, and would consider getting one if it makes across the pond.

What's up with white? The color is getting so hot for sportscars these days. Do remember: it still looks really (!) gay on a regular car.
If i ever have to buy a toy like the rs4 it will be white with black rims!

Jimmy,
Whoops. That didn't read quite right, did it? Corrected.

It's not just the paint job and some suspension tricks: the black & white packages lift the top speed limit (some electronic stuff) from 250 km/h to 280 km/h and add some more details than the ones mentioned in the blog posts. If you recall the cars base price and that it's being driven by people that don't have to worry that much about money, those 7.000 EUR are quite okay.
I'm not quite sure if i like this "white is the new black" car colour fashion, but the white back parts of the sports seats in these RS 4 look quite cool IMHO. There are some more images on the german Audi website: http://www.audi.de/audi/de/de2/neuwagen/a4/rs4/black___white.html

What sucks is that on the German site, these packages are only offiered on the Avants (wagon) and not the Sedan. These style packets are also not yet available in the U.S. (if ever?).
The Exclusive Package comes with the badging and red interior accents.
The Titanium Package comes with gunmetal rims, all chrome has been blacked out on the exterior and all carbon fiber on the interior is now piano black.
It's pretty sweet looking, I'd probably get the regular package though to keep the carbon fiber on the interior.
