VIDEO: VW IROC concept enjoys water sports
No matter how nice we ask, beg or cajole, our pleas for a skid pad have fallen on deaf ears. We're not asking much. All we want is a safe place to hoon it up to our hearts content.
Instead, we're forced to live out our four-wheel drift fantasies by watching repeats of Top Gear and now this, a video of Volkswagen's IROC concept pirouetting around a damp slice of tarmac in what we can only assume is B-roll footage for a photo shoot.
The video is after the jump and in the meantime, we'll try to figure out what the right ratio of cookies and milk Santa requires to make our dreams a reality.

To be honest.. I think with a bit of practice and a new set of decent tires i could pool that of in my Renault Clio. Just a pit of scanivian flicks and a lot of handbrake turns.
The car looks nice, but i don't think the'll sell a lot in that color. A bit to much of a NinjaTurtle color if you ask me.

If you actually look at the plate it says
"scIROCco" So all you see at first is "IROC"
But this is the Scirocco concept. fyi.

As for the color and the design, I bet it will sell just fine in that color. It's something different but still sort of tasteful (and not any loud annoying yellow or orange like many american carmakers seem to like).
I don't think I'm feeling the wheels though. Maybe that's what ruins it for me.
Despite all of this, how do I get that job?

I used to do that SH#@ in my Rabbit Convertible in the early 1980's.
All you need is FWD, ridiculous F/R weight distribution and a handbrake.
Big deal!
Give me this in AWD, though and it could be fun...especially in a darker colour.

I agree with you, King. The design looks more like a modded version of my '92 Honda Civic Si. I liked the earlier renders that made it more coupe-like. This looks like what the GTI should have been. (Although I like the current GTI).

i used to do that in my 03 corolla S. the S stood for SuperSexySonicSlidingSport, it said so in the owners manual.
