Transformers Update: TONS of pics and Prime's lips

We have good news and bad news to share. The bad news is that, despite reports to the contrary, it does appear that Optimus Prime will be sporting a pair of metallic lips in the upcoming live action Transformers film set to open on July 4th, 2007. Whatev, we're sure pop-action director Michael Bay will provide us with plenty of other elements about which to gripe before the curtain rises on Transformers. Now for some good news. A slew of new images from the movie have flooded the internet recently, which we've compiled and added to our ongoing gallery. These images show the film's star, actor Shia LeBeouf (hereby known "the Boof"), in various states of raw emotion as he interacts with our favorite giant alien robots. Actually, he spends most of his time with eyes as wide as saucer plates, unless he's onscreen with costar Megan Fox, in which case we're not sure what he's doing because we're not really looking at him. The Boof is having a great summer, though, thanks to his other movie, Disturbia, which just spent a few weeks at the top spot before the summer movie season kicked into gear. No doubt Boof will be back on top come Independence Day with Transformers.

The Camaro is a concept, so maybe that's why the brakes look fake?

1. Why is it prime's lips are bad but nobody EVER complained about starscream or megatron having lips?
2. Bay and company have already said that Prime won't have lips and footage with lips was used for testing only.

bgdc, The Prime lips are bad because this movie is supposed to be modeled after the gen1 cartoon, where Prime did not have lips, but Megatron and Starscreem both had lips.

Regardless of what Bay says now, he messed with the look and feel of the gen1 cartoon to make his movie, and so it really doesn't matter. Bumblebee is a Camaro and not a Beetle, Prime is a Cab-back and not a cab over, Ironhide is a pickup and not a van, Ratchet is Hummer and not a van-based ambulance, Jazz is a freaking Pontiac Solstice and not a Porsche 935, Megatron is some sort of ship, and not a gun, Barricade is a Mustang and not a F1, Bonecrusher is a Buffalo armored vehicle and not a bulldozer, Bwall Scorponok and Srarscreem seem to be OK, but I am sure Bay will screw them up somehow.
Also Why does Megatron need to have such an organic form and two face modes? If he can't be the P38, than at least let him be like Galvatron and be a cannon???
Oh well I guess like LOTR, the movie is going to be a giant waist of money.

The camaro has fake brakes beacause those are detailed wheel covers. The production wheels were not ready for the movie so they made these.

Bumblebee isn't a Beetle because VW would not allow it. Unfortunate, but it's really that simple. As for the rest, are you familiar with Transformers Alternators? They're a series of toys that have the 'bots as different vehicle forms. Prime is a Dodge Ram pickup, for instance.
I'm not going to let it the differences bother me too much, frankly.

Awesome to see a true fan calling out the differences. I personally have a problem with Starscream being an F-22 and not an F-15... but whatever.
I just hope that this movies retains the same wit as the original. I still watch the old movie (even though i'm now 15 years older) just to hear Orson Welles say "your bargaining posture is highly dubious"; Or when Leonard Nimoy remarks "it's a pity you autobots die so easily, or I might have a sense of satisfaction"... right before HotRod/Rodimus Prime unleashes a matrix-full of whoop-@ss on him.
I just hope in making a big blown up mainstream movie, care is taken to remember how the original was written... guess we'll find out in 2 months ;)

Tails, all movies are a waste of money. Shrug. I see well over 60 a year at the theater and we tend to go through 4 a week through netflix. But I have zero love for the original series or toys - cartoons in the 80s were awful. So Bay may change whatever he wants...it was just a cartoon designed to sell toys.

Anyone else think that the Mustang cop car is along side all of those GM products. I was under the impression GM probably paid a lot of money for all of their cars to be transformers, the big GMC, hummer, camaro, solstice....Mustang?
