Paris sentenced to the pen for violating probation
We generally try to avoid any coverage of celebrity foul ups, leaving it to the gossip sites to do their worst. This, however, is a story we couldn't pass up.After one drunken driving arrest, two traffic violations and failing to enroll in a mandatory alcohol education program, Paris Hilton has been sentenced to 45 days in a woman's prison in Lynwood, CA.
After arriving fashionably late to her court date, Paris the heiress was accompanied by her mother, Kathy, who laughed out loud when the prosecutor was making his closing statement (apple, tree, you know the rest). Afterwards, Paris made a statement laden with apologies, yet seeming to lack any real substance.
As flawed as our system can be, it's nice to know that justice can been served, even to the wealthy elite that generally live above the law. Her sentence begins on June 5th and we're looking forward to 45 Paris-free days during her time in custody.

I am of two minds on this. One the one hand, "meh. Another story about a publicity whore who is famous for being famous."
On the other, "BWAH HA HA HA HA!!!! It's about time. Womder if she will get a prison tat?"

The problem is that now the press will focus on her spoiled brat antics while she is in jail. She will be treated different and it will mean nothing to her. Being badly injured in one of her drunk driving accidents would be more appropriate.

I think that she being paris hilton is actually working against her lol. If she was some unknown person with a good lawyer she might not get jail time lol.

From "What Paris can expect behind bars? [sic]" http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070505/ap_en_ce/paris_hilton_jail
"There have been other celebrities at the women's jail... A year ago, former 'Lost' actress Michelle Rodriguez showed up to serve a 60-day jail sentence for violating probation terms after her drunken driving arrest in Hawaii. She was released in hours because of overcrowding." I hope Paris doesn't get similarly lucky.

If i was the judge i'd have some schmuck attorney going around passing out $500,000 subpeonas to any media outlet that attempted to cover her until 30 days after she's released, just to be sure.

The judge is likely tired of seeing rich/spoiled/stars treated differently than common individuals. A monetary fine would mean nothing to her. This should be a great lesson she may remeber. Hope it actually happens without any special treatment.

What's a $500,000 subpeona? (and I'm not knocking your misspelling of "subpoena."

Will she take her own $25K designer jumpsuit?
The really interesting part will be her attorney's appeal and what THAT judge decides. She may not serve any time at all.

I was injured by a drunk driver in '72. still have a reduced leg and a drop-foot 34 yrs later. And a lag-screw in my hip socket from a broken hip. I am lucky to be alive. Head-on on the 405 in the rain, he was a wrong-way driver.
So therefore I am glad to see her off the road.she is also a danger to herself.
Prob no seat-belt.
Drunk drivers get off too easy. I would like to see them placed in pillory at a mall. with rotten vegetables to throw. Not to hurt but to humiliate enough to have it sink in. That is only if they don't maim or kill.

#7 -- I dont think she got the hard time for BEING Paris Hilton. I think it was because she ACTED LIKE Paris Hilton -- did not respect what the court had ordered before, did not show actual remorse, brought in her Mom, who laughed at the prosecutor.

After hearing the news, (5th May, 2007) it looks as if our notorious celebrity will be taking a little rest from partying.
For those who don't know, or don't care M P. Hilton has just been sentenced to 45 days locked behind a cell door
The judge really went into town on her, not only is she going to be locked in a cage, he deliberately added, No work release, No electronic tagging, No parole. He was going to make sure she was incarcerated for the full 45 days.
And to add to her distress, humiliation and misery gave her a full month to think about just how much she would loathe it before she was actually locked away. Making her sentence nearly two-and-a-half months in reality up
And to make absolutely sure she was as miserable as possible, banned her from taking any form of alcoholic anesthetic to numb the terror she must be feeling thinking about what she had coming.
Inside sources, has said that she will be segregated for her own safety, so she will literally be in solitary confinement.
Solitary confinement is normally only used for the most wicked, or disorderly prisoners as it is a mental torment. Tedium is always a killer in the slammer but normally you can at least communicate with other prisoners.
However, I think the form of communicating that other prisoners would like to subject her to, the most likely means the authorities doing her a favor.
For those who are locked up with no contact with anybody except one hour for a shower and exercise.
If he she forgets to attend: like she forgot she was banned from driving or go on a drinks rehabilitation course. Then she will be arrested and forcibly dragged to prison in handcuffs and she will spend a extra 45 days with absolutely nothing to-do, no parties to go to, and nobody to seduce
