You do it twice in a row.  The first time on an uphill slant and the second time on a downhill one. Then, I thought no one will ever see the LED while you are driving, because your hand will cover it all the time.  So, what's the point to have it if no one can see it. The GSXR1000 has one, but that's the only one I've heard about.
