We're the Planeteers!
You can be one too,
'cause saving our planet is the thing to do!

Looting and polluting...
is not the way.
Here what Captain Planet, has to say!

"The power is yours!"

Wow, while I was watching this, lots of memories came rushing back into my head. I can remember totally believing that we were ruining our planet. This, I think, is one reason why the green movement is moving full speed ahead. No, not Captain Planet specifically, but the fact that my generation was raised with the belief that humans are having a big impact on planet earth, and that we need to take care of it much better than previous generations seemingly had. That said, I always, even as a kid, thought that Captain Planet was kinda hokey though. Click here for his official site.

Three things I always though were odd about the shows opener.

      1. Why is the car going the wrong way on the street in North America? Shouldn't they stop dumb-ass drivers too. After all car accidents are bad for the environment too.

      2. Why does the dolphin jump into the Sun and disappear? Is he a magic dolphin? If so, why didn't she just get out of the net herself? It isn't a magic net now is it?

      3. What's the point of heart alone? Marten is useless without anyone else. Why not give one of the other guys the heart ring to save some trouble. Marten sucks.

      4. What happened to the fish when captain planet droned out the fire with the river? Firstly all those flaming Monkeys probably droned in that flood and then all the fish probably got killed too. Who knows what kind of trouble he did to that river with that splash flood thing. He may have severely damaged that water way and with it a major artery to the Amazon which is drying up to Global Warming. Captain Planet may very well be killing off several indigenous populations. There is blood on your hands Captain Planet, Monkey, Fish, indigenous people blood.

Not to be that guy but I guess I am going to be. Isn't it "Hear what Captain Planet, has to say!" you know because he is always here. But you actually have to choose to hear him. Those kids are rather bossy with such a demand apparently when you save the earth please no longer exists.

Did anyone see the retooled 90's version that was supposed to be "darker" and "edgier" for the more urban and older kids of the 90's. Oh my god what a bad idea. I only saw one episode and all I remember was the logo had a black background, people listening to just the beats of gangster rap, slums, guns n' caps, a guy got shot, then pollution. I watched the original series as a kid and when I saw this I though why did someone die in a Captain Planet episode? It was fairly disturbing and to this day I still remember the dark Captain Planet the urban episode(s?).

I didn't watch it because I considered it blatant propaganda that surely nobody would be sappy enough to fall for -- an insult to the intelligence of kids. But I guess it was aimed at younger and less cynical kids than me.
