Tunage: Sportech gives a Golf 335 hp and 1,800 watts
Sportech is a South African tuner with a penchant for German cars. Out to build the fastest GTI around, they are currently working on a people's missile called the P Cubed Golf. It will have, among many other things, 335 hp, and is being built to handle just as well as it flies.
Somehow they plan to wring those 335 ponies from the turbocharged 2.0-liter that hauls the GTI, but Sportech hasn't said how they'll do it. If they pull that off, they expect a top speed in excess of 150 mph. And because apparently there isn't much to do when traveling at Mach 0.2, inside the car will be an 1,800-watt Rockford Fosgate system, three 7-inch touchscreens, two tablet PC's for the back seat passengers, wireless Internet, and a DVD screen and 15-inch sub in the trunk. Oh, and the rear bench is swapped out for twin Recaros that match the ones in front.
According to Sportech's Chad Wentzel, the paint job is meant to "make more than a few heads swivel with its dramatic looks." If you happen to be in South Africa on April 27, you can check it out at the Castrol Extreme Show. Mach schnell indeed.

The site says 250, not 335. 335 out of the 2.0t would be something, but 250 is just a chip away. Or did I miss something?

Now for the big question: Can Sportech get that model to eat a 1300 calorie cheeseburger.

So 1800 watts of stereo, 3 touchscreens, 2 pc's, and a 15 inch sub.
I think they'll need the 335 hp to negate the added weight in order to keep performance levels near stock, if not a little better. Why not get 335hp, and not add all that weight?

weasel- without looking- 250kW =335hp. I dont see why not. The old 1.8T made more than that in really hot trim.

Guenther - Checked again to see if you were right, but they claim 250bhp, not kW. Is someone converting to crank hp?
For what it's worth, I hate crank hp. I wan't to know what your engine is actually putting to the floor, without having to strap it to a dyno or guess using an estimated conversion factor.

At least they could have used a model that wasn't so damn ugly, she's nasty looking.

Coaxing 335bhp out of the 2.0T FSI engine is pretty easy.

I can't help but feel sick when I see that photo ... and it's not the car that causes my stomach cramps.
What the heck were they thinking?
Show the car as is. Move the ... eh ... model. Give her some food. Or pay a little more for someone with a normal figure. Or just get a regular good looking gal instead.

150mph topspeed...with that power the GTI easy brake into the 160mph... the 200hp stock GTI runs 146mph (235km/h)...the German 230hp GTI runs stock 243km/h = 151 mph...

Not to be confused with the Austrian Sportec, who wouldn't do anything like this...but would build the most amazing (RUF killing) Porsche turbo around.

# 16 Sportec is Swiss not Austria and they have no RUF killing Porsche.. At the last Nardo high speed event 2006 the Sportec tuned Porsche failed to reach tuner claim. If you seek a RUF beating Porsche tuner go 9ff
